Cracking passenger door and dash
Hello,
My Z4 has a cracking noise coming from the passenger door when entering in a parking lot or driving over a sidewalk when entering a garage and sometimes a loud crack in the dashboard . For info, I have the leather option on the dash. Anyone else has this problem? |

i had this prob too...after trying everything i knew to do to remedy this annoying rattling, i found the problem/solution to be real simple. take a look at your passenger seat the next time it rattles and note where the seatbelt buckle is at. most likely it is between the seat and the door. this is causing the rattles. just move the buckle! hopefully this will solve things for ya

Try a ride with the folderbox of the doorpanel open. I sometimes get some kind of noise but was easy to spot and fix. I too have that loud noise from the dashboard once in a while.

I have a creaking noise from the seat but that is the seat back rubbing against the back of the interior. I either move it forward 1/2 inch (1cm) or 1/2 back to be tighter against it. But otherwise, no rattles from the seat, only something in the top mechanism over certain roads.

I have the same problem some times...
Still have to check it. It does remind me of a rattle i have once in my alfa romeo... same noise. It was a bunch of cables and connector mounted under the seat that vibrated on bad roads. I noticed a similar connectar and cables under the seat of my Z4. I will check asap if it has something to do with the noise... |

It's the roof. I see you dug my own post up on the subject. I to was convince it was the door pillar and the dash. When I entered my drive or went over a speed bump it was if the dash was coming apart. Just a loud crack. It's a known issue. |

No bother, the ratteling is defenently comming from inside de seat, only need eleven moths to go.
Will be changing this car two years earlier than planned and this for the bad finishing quality (interior noises and crack's from dash and passenger door, thumping sound from the differential, roof when closed) not for the driving pleasure. It's a bit sad, still hope they bring out a solid Z4 coupe, if not I will change from brand. For the sake of BMW, I hope I'm the only one with these problems. Regards |

Re:
If you have your dealer lubricate the seals of the roof the creak/knocking sound in the dash and door will go away.
I have had no more issues since this work was completed. The sound you hear in the dash and door is coming from the roof. Your dealer can fix this. |
