Car Cover

For those of you who use a outdoor car cover. I'm interested in the brand you chose. What you like and don't like about it. I'm looking into purchasing one so I can park the Z4 outside occasionally while I do other vehicle work inside the garage on other older BMW's. I've looked at the BMW, Roadster Solutions, & CarsCover on line. Just curious as to your thoughts.

I have the OEM one. I used to have a covercraft cover for my VW convertible and they actually looks the same(material and construction) as far as I can tell. so maybe its a covercraft re-brand.
I have no complaint with the cover. custom fit so its easy to put in and take out.
I rarely use it now since I moved to a place with garage. If you're in SF bay area and want to buy it used from me, send me a PM

I too use the OEM one when I do work on one of my other cars. I got it for my old e46 it fits like a glove. I used it on my former e89 a bit big still okay. Now I cover my e92 when I go on long trips and leave my baby in the garage

The OEM one is a bit pricey then it is good quality. I guess we pay for the big black BMW inscription on it a bit more too joking aside it is good quality I have it now for 7 years still looks like new you can secure it below and lock it as well. One winter I covered our old e29 535is outside while worked on restoring her every other weekend (moving her into the garage for the work) it worked fine for me and did the job.

As I said it be a bit large for your Z then you never know when you change back to a 4 door so my recommendation would be get the normal BMW one since if you get the Z cover it be just a bit small for a normal size BMW later on

I bought a generic 5 layer cover off Ebay for $80. My car is always garaged so the cover is mainly for scratch protection. The fit is decent a little loose but it does come with adjustable straps if you need to tighten the ends down. I just couldn't see laying out over $200 for an OEM model. Bavauto sells a nice cover as well. I also bought a generic cover off ebay for my 335d as it is parked outside. I am negotiating with the seller now for a different size as the one they sent me doesn't allow me to use a cable lock as the sides are too short. I only paid $70 for it but it is also either a 4 or 5 layer cover and has seen lots of rain. Does a good job as I do park under a tree and want to keep the birds from decorating my car.
