Suspension advice needed
Hi All,
I recently fitted H&R lowering springs to my car, before taking the car in to have them fitted I measured the height from the floor to the edge of the arch, I found that the right rear was 10mm lower than the left rear, this was done in my garage as the floor is level. I thought maybe that the spring on that side was the problem, however after having the H&R springs fitted I measured again and the car is still 10mm lower on the right rear. What could be causing this. Thanks. |

Get the dead hooker out of the trunk first before measuring the ride height.
But on a more serious note, There could be many things causing this. I would start checking from suspension arms and not the body, with those you can find where the difference is coming from much more precise. |

I'm with Herr K on this one. The parking brake will make the height of the car different from left to right. I notice this when I'm changing wheels. After is install the wheel and set the car down, it's def lower (on the right if I remember)

Thanks for the replies, I was measuring with the brake on and thought that was the problem, rushed out to the garage to re-measure unfortunately it's exactly the same I also own a Z3 and know you get different thickness spring pads which you can use to adjust the ride height, not sure the E89 is the same.

You are kidding, right? I went to my conversion program and 10 mm things is 0.39" You actually think you can feel some effect from less than 1/2" in ride height difference at the rear of your car? wow Mick

Op is not saying he felt it. He measured it. He just wants to know why it's like that.

There is no problem with the handling, it's just that I did a measurement and found the right rear to be lower, now with the car been lowered it's more noticeable, to me anyway and would like to rectify the problem |
