Extended Lighting

I am new to this forum – so hello to all!

I picked up my new Z4 sDrive23i on the 1st Sept, absolutely love the car, it’s fantastic!

Anyway the reason for this post is to ask - Did any of you spec the “Extended Lighting”? ( not sure if this is just a UK option or it may be called something else in other countries )

The UK brochures say that it includes the following:
Door Handle Illumination
Exit Lighting
Footwell Lights
Reading Lights
Sunvisors with Illuminated Vanity Mirrors

I did select this Extended Lighting option, and have all the things listed above except for the “Illuminated Vanity Mirrors” in the Sunvisors
I have mentioned this to my dealer and I am just waiting for him to get back to me.

In the meantime I was just wondering if any of you who took this option actually got the mirror Lights?

I am not that bothered about having lights in the mirrors but I did pay extra so they should light up!

Any thoughts, comments from you guys would be appreciated

Cheers
Stu

In the U.S., 'BMW lighting' is part of the premium package. The brochure doesn't list visor mirror lights but it list the same other items. Mine does not have them. I'd guess the UK brochure is wrong but let us know what they say.

Extended Lighting - Option Code 563

Hi Stu!

You've got me thinking.

I have the s35i and I have Extended Lighting.
I DO NOT have Illuminated Mirrors in the Sun Visors!

The Ext Ltg is standard fit in the UK on the 35i.

Now....down to the nitty gritty.....what does BMW say?
BMW UK Website....shows picture of the lit door handles...hmmm.
Handbook....nothing that I can find.....
Z4 Literature.....there it is..Sun Visors with illuminated vanity mirrors.

I'm e-mailing my dealer NOW!

Thanks Stu

Did either of you guys find out why your vanity mirrors do not illuminate?
I wondered the same and did the search to find this.
As you say, its not about being vain, but we've paid for the option!

US cars have the lighting package in the premium package, but it DOES NOT include sun visor lighting

also the brochures can make mistakes... I remember my E90 brochure said I could control seat heaters from the iDrive screen but the option wasn't on my iDrive.

In the US, the lighting package is called "Ambiance Lighting" and, as mentioned above, is included in the Premium Package. Here is the description from the BMW USA web site:

Offers conveniently placed lighting outside and inside the vehicle. Lights below the outside door handles illuminate the ground below the doors for 20 seconds after the vehicle is unlocked. The package also includes interior Ambiance Lighting, reading lights and footwell lighting.

No visor lights.

Cheers,
Danny

UK Z4 sDrive30i with extended lighting option and can confirm that my sunvisors do *not* have illumination. Yes...my brochure also says it should have it.

Girlfriend is *not* happy!

I raised this with my dealer when I picked the car up, I showed him the online brochure I had (cos they didn't have any printed ones when I ordered the car) with the illuminated mirrors listed. He then went and got the printed brochure and showed me it had no illuminated mirrors. Sure enough, they then disappeared from the online brochure.

I too was annoyed that I had paid for an option that didn't actually turn up

Hi Bram

Dealer told me I had the "old" brochure, and that the Visor Lights were not part of the package now,

He was very apologetic, so I just left it at that - but I doubt that any of these cars actually have Visor lights ( due to the visors being so small ) and it was just a mistake in the brochure possibly copied details from a brochure for another BMW model.

Sun visor lights are part-n-parcel of almost all but the most bargain-basement cars now, so it's a shame the E89 misses out on them. Did the E85 have them?

All I care about is the lights in the exterior door handles, as well as interior, and the lights behind the seats, and the footwell lights, and the little waterfall lights overhead, and the exit lights under the doors.

Ok Ok I care about a lot of lights. I'll be getting the illuminated door sills too.

Holy Thread Resurrection!

2009 35i Extended Lighting
NO Visor Lighting

Has anyone had there LED Lamps fail in door handle?

My passenger side door handle LED lamps failed.

I have the BMW Extended Gold Protections so I should be covered but what a hassle. I fear have my door panel removed by the BMW Techs.
