Replaced Angel Eyes Bulbs for MTEC Cosmos Blue

Seen others have changed their Angel Eye bulbs, so thought this has to be one of my first *easy* mods after the Citroen Stubby Aerial.

They're MTEC Cosmos Blue White H8's (4750k)

Got them via ebay for £14.50 from HID Direct (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/hids-direct/)

LEFT NEW, RIGHT OLD

NOTE this is with just SIDE LIGHTS ON not Daylight Running - the new one's are MUCH brighter when set to Daylight Running - I didn't realise that side light setting was much dimmer till it was too late and it was then nearly dark so the comparisons would have been wrong between the bulbs, and I wasn't re-installing the old one's to retest!

Money well spent IMHO.

How did you remove these bulbs? I can't figure out how to change mine...

Simple, remove large rubber cap from the top of the headlamp assembly and you should see brown and white wire (I think) running around the edge of the space and then to the bulb itself. The bulbs rotate towards the centre if the car (using the bulb base and wiring connector) and then slide backwards (towards rear of car) upwards and carefully out. Then carefully prise off the connector by lifting the two clips either side - being v careful not to touch the bulb glass with your skin.

Installation is simply the reverse.

Cheers,

David

I'm a bit confused , but IMHO, I think the factory ones look much brighter and are perfect. The new ones you put on are hardly noticeable.

^^ I was gonna say the same thing. The difference with factory ones is that they really are bright and you can notice them during the day.

Take it nobody read the part about them being on 'side light' setting when I took these photos, not daylight running (which is a brighter setting), hence they weren't as bright as they would be in normal use. I'd take some more pics but it's back at the garage AGAIN : (

Will try take some tonight - assuming it's not kept overnight.

It's staying in overnight. Bloddy thing!

Now also needs new oil sensor after saying empty one minute full the next.

Looks good David. Thanks for posting. (I did read the last part of your post)

I think this needs to be on my list of mods...

As promised here's two pics taken just now with the engine running and with Daylight Running Lights selected (above shots are 'side lights' and are therefore dimmer).

I am buying the same bulbs after being disappointed by an LED kit. The white is really washed out during day time and makes the angel eyes less noticeable. They do look better at night though. I will see how I like them.

Looks great, it's funny last night I was thinking how these would look on a Z4 but looks like you answered my question!

Good post thanks. Tried the ebay link above for HIDs-Direct but could not see the MTEC Cosmos Blue White H8's on the site. I assume you need 4 of these bulbs?

I bought mine from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=370393445148

You only need one set. Its two bulbs, one per side of the car.

I guess its just me, but I like the stock ones way way better. it looks more nasty with the stock ones. Like its a little bit angry. I would have left it alone.

The angel eyes bulbs are H8 bulbs. and these are not Xenon. They are incandescent H8 bulbs supposedly filled with Xenon gas to give them a Xenon look.

Davidmbell Thanks for the link. I always considered the stock lights to be rather dim so I was pleased to see your post. I have just bought some of these lamps from the link you posted.

Sta away from those Led's, there not bright enough! At night they are very good but during the day they are hardly noticeable.

I have the HID's in mine and they are as bright as the stock ones, only I have the H8 4350k instead of the new H8 4750k like the TS.
