Non-ethanol gas

So I think you all know that ethanol-free gas is better for your engine and provides about 10% better gas mileage. Without getting into a debate about the economic and environmental stupidity of adding ethanol to gasoline (don't get me started), I'd like to share my recent experience.

A nearby, no-name station started selling ethanol-free gas for $4.55 (I usually pay $4.25). For me to break even, I needed to get 23 mpg combined city/hiway (I usually get 21.5). 21.5 : 425 = X : 455...solve for X! I just finished the tank and got 24 mpg (9% increase). I'm sold on this. I'll just throw a bottle of Techron in there every 5K miles to keep things clean.

How do you find an ethanol-free gas station in your area? Google search?

Edit: why yes, a google search will do it ;-)

There's actually a decent amount in Texas, just not in major metro areas from what I found. Lagrange or Dublin might be the closest for you, which might not be all that close. But if you travel around the state you might find one. North Texas seems to have more than central Tx.

LaGarange is an hour away. A little too far to be driving just to get gas

ethanol subsidy for fuel is a "dead-weight loss" fail....

Unforunately, there are 5 stations on that list that Cedar posted for CA and 1 of the says in the comments "they have no pump here, just 5 gallon drums"

At this point I've decided "F-it" and I just throw Costco 91 octane into the tank. If there is a specific need I mix in Sunoco 100 octane

If you want non-ethanol gas in your local area and are having a hard time finding it go to the web sight of your local 'hot rod"/"back to the 50" car guys. They more than likely have local listings for the cars that really have to stay away from ethanol.
