I have these on my front. Best dry-performance all season tires. So I get the great summer performance that beats most summer tires, and I have the all season benefit when I need extra turning/grip traction in the snow. Great tires!
I have these on my rear. 2nd best ride comfort, 2nd best tread wear, and 3rd best in wet traction/hydroplaning. I think they're the best all-around performing summer tire (besides the PSS). Love them. |

Michelin PSS. Great improvement all around, the tire is cheaper than a run-flat and can be repaired. Just look at the tire rack pro review and make up you mind from there. Just had a run-flat on my 335i give up a and had to buy a new tire that I can't use just to make it home as I was 100 miles away. So much for the run flat advantage! That car is also going to PSS

Nice.. I'm looking for this info too for mine.
Michelin PSS seems to be the bargain. Discount tire is selling it at $244 (front)/ $280 (Rear) Each and 19" About $100 off from Bridgestone run flat But will you guys be worry about no runflat and no spare tire? |

One note about the Micheling PSS: I find them noisier than my old Bridgestone 760 Sport. On the other hand, the PSS seem less harsh on bumps than the B/S 760 Sport. |

I get the impression that most move away from RFT's at their 1st opportunity. oh and btw, California has mountains and all weather tires are better than summer tires on icy roads. The AS/3's seem to be a PSS but also offer all weather driving

I actually went through 2 sets of RFT in 15k miles (I thought the ride comfort on the 18" RFT was fine, but 19" RFT is harsh) and switched to non RFT to get max dry grip Personally, I think PSS is a very nice tire but there is always a trade off. PSS does not have the dry grip level and heat resistance of the latest generation of competition oriented street tires like the Dunlop ZII, BFG Rival, Bridgestone RE11A, etc. |

- The road noise @ highway speed is reduced by ~ 4db's - The traction is GREATLY improved (both wet & dry) - The feel is firm but not hard (think "Grippy Rubber", not "Hard Plastic")

I now have Michelin PSS 235 front and 265 rear on the car. Immediately noticed less 'crashy' suspension, a smoother ride and a lot less tire noise compared to the stock runflats. Handling is progressive. Running 46psi rear and 42psi front. Very impressed.

Has anyone had any experience with these various tire brands.
Comparing the Continental DW and Michelin PSS as a base and top performer compared to Pirelli, Kumho and Yokohama tires? All are Max Summer Performance tires and NOT all Season for apples to apples comparison. Interested in ride comfort, LOW tire noise and grip, then I will look at cost, warranty etc. F- 235/40/18 R- 265/35/18 Wheels VMR V710 F- 18 x 8.5 R- 18 x 9.5 Continental ContiSportContact 3 Max Performance Summer- $1012 Set Continental Extreme Contact DW Max Performance Summer- $706 Michelin PSS- Max Performance Summer- $848 Set with $70 Rebate Pirelli P Zero- Max Performance Summer- $942 set Kumho Ecsta SPT - Ultra High Performance Summer- $576 set Kumho Ecsta XS- Extreme High Performance Summer tire- $896 Set Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08 Extreme Performance Summer- $1134 Set

The Kumho XS to some extent and Advan AD08 for sure are much more aggressive tires than the rest. If you are shopping in that category (autoX or HPDE oriented street tires) I would recommend the Dunlop ZII (what I purchased). Those are apparently one of the favorite tires for autocrossers and HPDE drivers right now. If you are looking for LOW noise, this is not the place to look. My dunlop ZII are CRAZY loud and they can be sketchy in standing water. The grip is fantastic though in the dry and the damp. I am really happy with the Dunlop ZII but I wanted max dry grip and heat resistance without going to an R compound and was willing to give up on noise, comfort and standing water performance Ecsta SPT are a joke. I had that tire and it was lacking in grip. I do not recommend. My wife's car has the ContisportContact 5 from the factory and it is ok. Typical OEM sport package tire. I have never been impressed with P Zero, other than the Corsa streetable R compound tire. Based on your priorities, I think the PSS would be a strong choice. |
