No power when you're not giving gas?
I'm still trying to get familiar with mynew car.
One thing I'm not use to is that, when you're not giving gas/tab paddle, the car basically stays still? barely move.. it happens when starts after stop and when you're backing --- i've to be really carefully, afraid of giving too much gas and hit something when backing.. another case related is, while driving, if you let go of the paddle, the car slows down really fast. are these just the way how the car is designed or is there anyway to configure/adjust it? Thanks! |

if you are on an incline, it will sit still until you apply pressure on gas pedal. if you are on an even surface, it will move by slowly engaging the clutch.
a sport car will gain and loose speed quickly. if you are in a lower gear, it will gain and loose speed quicker than higher gear Last edited by Hoa; 12-18-2012 at 11:29 PM.. |

throttle response are more rapid in sports cars even in comfort mode, which means even when you let go off the gas, it will slow down faster due to engine braking.
for the stay still, it's probably due to the car is a Dual Clutch semi-Manual. it won't move forward by itself when you let go of the brake like a normal automatic car with torque converter. I hope that make sense.

I did like the title of this... wondering what you expected the car to do when the accelerator isn't pressed... speed up?
I think what you're experiencing as others have said is classic DCT behaviour. It takes time to learn how to use it best. |

For example, lets say you are on an incline, and if you dont give gas, the car would not move without pressing the brake, however as soon as you tap the gas, it would start to roll back.. it is completely related with how the clutch engages.. no worries you ll get used to it soon.. |

i meant, generally, other cars would speed up to around 15 mph once you let go off the brake.
and yesterday I was in a traffic jam, and I wasn't use to it every time the traffic moves a little bit I have to tab the accelerator. for my old car, I just let go off the brake. but I'll get use to it |

you have to treat it similar to a manual car. in a manual car, you will have to apply a little gas and engage the clutch to take off. here, the car engage the clutch for you and all you have to do is apply the gas

In my case, put the car in reverse and the car moves without pressing gas...the car will continue to move without a gas pedal input between 0-5 MPH depending on the slope.

Takes a little getting used to if you've never driven a manual before. But what you are experiencing is normal for the DCT.
