H8 20 watt LEDS installed
I got my H8 20 Watt LED lamps for my Angel Eyes in 7000K ( cool blue color) yesterday. $64 on Ebay from HKS. These are pluig and play. However you have to absolutely line up the 3 different sized mounting tabs on the lamps into the lamp housing correctly before the lamps will lock in. I used tie wraps and black electrical tape to secure the driver and wiring in place and placed the complete assembly inside the lamp housing. Love the look over the Yellow warm colored halos and now the HID head lamps and Halos are a matched cool color.

No Radio interference.
I drove the car and the 1st thing that I tested were all the radio bands- AM, FM, Satelite for over 30 minutes of driving and all is good for radio use.

That looks nice. What I don't get is why the stock bulbs shine evenly between the inner and outer rings, but replacement LEDs have unequal lighting. Can anyone explain that?

This is a tempting change to make since the yellowish OEM color "dates" the car |

There are two spots for bulbs in the car: the daylight light (rings) and the headlights. These two spots are respectively located behind the two rings: Behind the inner ring spot, there are daylight lights and behind the outter one, there are the headlights. As a consequence, the inner ring closer to the bulb/LEDs is receiving more light and thus is brighter than the outter one. It seems that an equally bright outter ring was not possible with this design and the technology of rings. Last edited by SchweiZ4; 08-08-2013 at 04:44 AM.. Reason: Adding Light schema |

I have the same lights (different branding but the construct/replays look exactly the same). This is in direct sunlight. Yes the inner rings are still brighter than outer ones.

I'll take some photo's of my newly installed LUX V4's.
They look really good. I was on the fence because of the cost and there was some confusion on the shipping time but so far the product is good. I think they are much brighter than these, not discounting how good these look, for the price they are on the money. Let me get photo's tonight in the garage and I will let you guys be the judge. Getting rid of the halogen colored lights always update the look of these cars. I am still blown away that a car designed and released for 2009 had any incandescent bulbs in it at all. Every single bulb in this car should have been user serviceable LED! I changed my interior lights out with the BMW LED's and it looks great, there is more light even. I'll include a photo of that also. I am going to get more bulbs to do the puddle lamps and trunk. |

Also, if I'm not mistaken, aren't our brake lights (minus the 3rd one) incandescent bulbs as well? This is what bothers me the most... If I'm wrong and they are in fact LEDs, then I am even more disappointed at the design, because the lights look so scattered and "unorganized" which is what I like most about LEDs. |

The LUX v4 do flicker when the light does it fade to black. But I have not see them flash on start-up.
The flashing is not as bad as people say. It starts to dim and as it gets to near black it flickers down like 4 times, each blink is dimmer then the last. I am OK with it since I know the LED's and controllers needed to do a LED dim only shorten the life and limit the brightness of LED's They never blink on engine start, only when the lights go to sleep when you lock the doors. If I remember I may take a small video of it. I know there are both LED and incandescent lamps in the tail lights, not sure which do what function, I have not given that much attention to it yet. |

I would like to believe in the LUX lights, but from what I have seen they are not as bright as new BMW daylights, neither much brighter than the $50 LED lights from eBay.
considering this, I will not go for LUX lights because of this ratio price/performance. If price is not an issue, I believe this is the best option for Z4 daylights. |

For me as well, the cost of the Lux at $250 was out of the questions especially since my only re-light purpose was purely an asthetic reason to color match purposes of the Xenon to the LED and not have the yellow Halogen Halo color. $64.99 was right in my wheelhouse for price.

Has anyone tried using 6000K halogen bulbs for the angel eye halos? I wonder how they compare the LED's.

I agree with the LUX. Almost ordered a set, but I just couldn't justify $250 on a set of bulbs. These look like a very good alternative... but two questions.
Firstly, do they dim when you turn on the xenons like OEMs, or do they stay at 100% power/brightness? Secondly, we all know how hard it is to capture light accurately in a photo, especially these BMW AEs! How do they actually compare in terms of brightness to the OEMs? Brighter, just as bright, not as bright? Are the hotspots similar to the OEM halogens, or are there more, less, etc. While they are significantly cheaper than LUX, want to make sure they will look decent (at least as good as OEM + the color change) before sinking $65. |

I have been selling high end commercial lighting for a living for 25 years and in Lighting ( like everything else) you get what you pay for and brightness is subjective. However here my opinion in comparing the $65 LEDs to the halogens these are a good deal, as long as they last as advertised. Answers 1. No dimming. Full light output and instant on at start. No warm up time needed. 2. My opinion is that that these 20 watt (4 chips each x 5 watts each) = 20 watts. Each chip is located on each side of a square bezel. I did not measure the light output with a digital light meter, which I am planning to doing, but in my subjective opinion the light out is perceived as being close to the halo light out put. Perceived because it it a proven fact that the cooler the blue color like these 7000 degree Kelvin leds, the brighter the Application seems. In actuality in almost every case with LED, actual lumens (light output) is less to its incandescent/ halogen replacement. 3. LEDS do not show well in photographs. When taking these photos, the LEDs in the camera Lens actually strob. The halos look to me to have a solid ring. However if you look at them from different directions, hard side view for example, your eye may see what looks like a small dark spot in the halo. You have to be really looking for. No issue with me. I am happy with the results for me.
