Nasty stuff - Volcanic Ash
For those interested:-
http://www.radarvirtuel.com/# http://www.flightstats.com http://www.flightradar24.com/ http://www.nats.co.uk/ http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/aviation...aacuk_vag.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Airways_Flight_9 Volcanic Ash Not only abrasive in nature, but particles within ash contain silica and other substances which, when subject to the extremely high internal temperatures within the combustion chambers of an aircraft's gas turbine engine, cause a 'glaze' to form.... This will of course stop the engine from functioning and it will flame-out. The only direction the aircraft is going next is down..... Boy is it peaceful here in the UK, just bliss. Blue skies, no contrails, no ash.... Wait, no ash.....well I can't see it.... Yet.......... Good luck all. Have a great weekend............ |

Flight got canceled...no flights out until Thursday at the earliest. Basically, I'm screwed. the only upside is that they'll ship my car immediately and I'll get it a lot sooner. It's a major disappointment, but that's the only bright spot.
