Episodic yellow snowflake indicator light

I have had a couple of episodes when a yellow snowflake briefly flashes on in my central display between the Speedometer and Tachometer. I've looked for this indicator in the manual and don't see it anywhere. Any ideas on this phenomenon??

That's the outside temp warning when its below 37 degrees. If the temp is right at 37, it may flash repeatedly on a drive.

Yup, last week one morning at about 8 am my snowflake made it's first appearance (and probably it's last) this season here in Arizona. That was also an indication it was probably best to put the top up. Here in AZ it's nothing more than a novelty to see it.

Black Ice

Yes BMW's policy is to set their warning light/dong at 3degC or 37degF.

Some other manufacturers set the trigger at 5 degC (Audi for example)

I think all BMW's have had the 37° temperature warning for at least 10 years.

Refer to page 55 in the owners manual . . .

I think also if the temperature rises about 3 and then falls below, again it chimes again.

-2 deg this morning......no snowflke!! But it does come up normally, maybe too cold for snow (as idiots say!!!!).
But then a frosty windscreen and white roads sort of give the game away, so who needs a yellow warning light!?

You sure? As soon as your start the car it should come up on the display between the rev counter as speedo and in yellow. There is also a boing/chime noise. If you have iDrive a message appears on the screen as well.

i don't need a yellow light to tell me it's freezing, it was -4 fahrenheit (-20 celsius) this morning

it's 3 (-16 celsius) right now.

20" to 24" of snow predicted for here tomorrow (near Washington D.C.). I'll be driving my Ford Expedition, if I go anywhere at all. The Z4 and the 911 will be staying in the garage for a while.

Charlotte got its storm yesterday and into last night. We got mostly rain, with a little freezing rain and sleet. The roads were a little slick on the way home from work but certainly driveable. This morning there is only ice on the trees and its already melting. The NC mountains did get snow accumulation but it varies a lot.

Stay safe in the snow fall up north.

Sounds more like you're at the North Pole!! And I thought it was bad here in London. Currently about -1C. You make it sound like I should be sun bathing!
