not really that much torque down low. That's what the TS wants
The s54 gets it's power from insane revs.

Plenty of money left for a bolt on blower kit

Subaru BRZ with an ls1 swap or supercharger. Light, excellent handling but the stock motor does not have much for torque.

Guess what the N20 runs?

Think about the S3, RS3, Focus RS, AMG C45, and others. They are running FAR more PSI than 8.8, close to 20 I'm sure, PSI that's just not possible from a supercharger at those RPMs.

Looked into it a little, cost would be at leas $45000 cdn to do the swap. You will never get close to that back when you go to sell, which I will be doing in 2 to 3 years given my illness, so in the end it would be a very expensive route to go, and again no OEM warranty

a used supercharged frs/brz might do the trick though and going to keep my eye open for one...I do wonder whether even supercharged it will feel stronger in the lower rpms that my 981S...

Dont you mind that you're then stepping back from a premium car/feel to a cheaper one?

For me it's all about the drive so if a supercharged brz or frs would bring more smiles per miles then bring it on. Back in the day i chose a 350z over an s52 mcoupe because I MISTAKENLY thought the 350z would bring more driving enjoyment. I did end up regretting that decision. Not because the bmw was more of a premium vehicle but because once I eventually got one (e86) I appreciated what great driver's cars they are.

Oof yeah, bad call.

The Nissan dealer owner wanted my Mint '95 300zx so bad he offered me a demo 350z around 2003 and gave it to me for the day.

I wound up driving home the Z32 lol. The 350z compared to my M, that would have been an even shorter test drive lol.

I had a z32 as well, a 1991 manual NA. I loved that car much more so than my 350Z. The z32 had a peach of an engine and timeless beauty.

I never got a chance to give the s52 mcoupe a real test drive, I only drove it around the dealer parking lot so I didn't get a chance to appreciate it. If I had I am sure I would not have made the mistake of passing it up for a 350Z.

Naw, cause then you have to add a bunch of ballast to the tail, giving you even more weight penalty for the heavier engine, then way higher fuel burn, etc. Something like an RV7 is already light and a 180-200hp O-360 is the "sweet spot".

Best NA GT car with manual tranny

So I think I've finally.. ahem... matured to a point where I am looking for more of a GT car. I find lately that pushing my 2016 Cayman S to its limits to be more of a chore than a joy. I'd rather just chill a little more. I think I am moving on to looking for more of a cruiser than a bruiser.

But I still want an engaging driving experience which means I want:

Normal Aspiration (don't try to sell me on turbos, I know they work for a lot of people but they don't for me)
lots of low end torque (I am willing to give up upper end of rev ranges for low end torque, again cruiser, not bruiser)
manual transmission

I've narrowed it down to:
2004-2010 BMW 645ci, 545i, m5 or m6 (although I hear the v8's are better for low end torque than the v10's?)
Cadillac cts manual (v or non-v, coupe or non coupe)

any others that fit the bill that I am missing? I am looking to spend 80k cdn max.

I recently test drove a 2016 S5 with manual tranny since it promised good low end torque and seemed to fit the bill, but was left unimpressed, I actually didn't find it any stronger than my cayman in the lower rev ranges and the throttle response was weaker

I wish there was a new car out there with a manual tranny, normally aspirated with good low end torque, refined, and a compact size...but no such thing...

I already owned a c7 and didn't like it all that much, but my focus was a little different then and I might actually go drive one again given my new GT car focus...but I found the car a little rough around the edges and clumsy in some ways...which I fear the cadillacs will also be (never driven one)

I have an E63 M6 that I used for my daily driver. It's a bit expensive around town but I cannot tell you how many trips that I made to the big box grocery stores or the The Home Depot.

The utility of the car is fantastic and it's still pretty stealthy until you stand on it.

Aston Martin Vantage V8? I heard you can get bumper to bumper warranty
This might be a stretch for your budget but a gently used first gen R8 V8.

Probably the best option - latest gen Mustang 350R or Camaro SS, although they might not qualify for a true GT car.

Is GT350 an option? I had a CTS-V and hated everything about it. I might have liked it more with a manual trans option, but the automatic sucked hard.

The vantage I have thought about, I actually seriously considered a move to a vantage GT a while back...the pre 2009 models don't actually have much low end torque

same with the v8 r8, more of a revver...

GT350 again not a low end torque sort, most reviews say it is relatively gutless under 4000 rpm

the Camaro SS, I'd have to think a c7 would offer more refinement than an SS and I found my c7 disappointing in that area...but maybe it's worth a look, it is a newer gen than the C7, definitely has got the low end torque piece.
