Cool Audio upgrade

Has anyone got any tips on upgrading the standard system in my Z4 (2010). it has a Professional radio as standard but the basic amp and speakers are pretty poor. The dealer says that Alpine are likely to bring in an after market upgrade at some stage, but nothing yet. I would ideally like to get this fitted rather than do it myself and I dont need boy racer bass or massive volume, just better quality. Thanks

A number of Z4 owners have upgraded there systems after the headend, which they kept for integration, but no Professional systems that I'm aware of.

Here's a link:

Audio upgrades

Just finished my upgrade, had to be done in 2 stages, replaced the speakers and added 2 JL audio amps, using the BMW head unit and it sounded "blah". Apparently, the head units signals are highly equalized and there is only so much that can be done to fix it, so, consideration of a din size unit was considered, Alpine, but I would have lost most of the bluetooth functionality. A Pioneer double din unit was fit with minimal structural change and included Navi and full bluetooth functionality. Sound is now what should be included in any 60,000 dollar automobile and better than what I hear in the enhanced system of the Z4 or my enhanced M3 sedan. Please note, no real room for an upgraded subwoofer without building an enclosure in the trunk. Pics will follow when I get a chance.

Hi

I have upgraded my system by replacing the business radio unit and rear speakers. I also added an extra subwoofer.

You would expect the new Z4 2010 would have a great sound system. I did find the sound system a little substandard considering that most people these days want at least more volume with quality delivering pure sound, especially when you spend a great deal of time driving. Thats the only entertainment system there is. Everyones taste varies so I agree the sound system is poor quality.
cheers

Were you able to still use your original steering wheel controls?
