EPS recall

hey guys,

i took my car for regular inspection which was due after three months of purchase, and they found a recall on EPS. after keeping my car for couple of days, the service guy told me they need to keep it for couple more since they are going to replace entire steering module/part.

i suggest you go get your Z4 checked at bmw to see if they are under this recall and get it fixed. seems serious issue to me from what i've heard, electronice power steering (EPS) acts differently in high temperatures.

i thought i will let you guys know just in case you are not aware of it already

I was told that my Z4 35i is only affected if it was built in November or Decemeber 2012.

Well since my 35is was built in December, I gave BMW a call, and low and behold, it is affected. I'll probably drop it off today.

Assuming 2012 is a typo and 2011, correct?

Got my recall notice in the mail today. BMW America sent it out based on my telephone inquiry. When I called last week to find if my car was one of those subject to the recall, they couldn't tell me anything other than the car had a recall notice, and to call my dealer for details.

Called my dealer twice, left a message as requested, never heard back from the dealer. Next call to dealer will be to schedule the service, first need to remove SmartTop chip.

I got my notice the other day, but I pre-empted the notice by calling my dealer and scheduled the appt. It took three days, most of which was programming. I didn't remove my SmartTop, I just turned it off. No issues there.
