Short shift kit
Most everything else off the E9X works on the E89. Anyone know if this will too? :

I don't think it will... the linkage on the Z4 is slightly different from the E9x. I had my short shifter custom made at Rogue Engineering - give them a call maybe they can help you out.

One of my first mods will be a UUC Evo3 shifter. I've been using one for years in my E46 and absolutely love it. Here's the one for the E89 (the 35i at least, not sure if the 28i is any different) http://store.uucmotorwerks.com/ultim...els-p1642.aspx

Just ordered this weekend as well. UUC had a 10% off sale for the 4th. Got it a little cheaper than off ECS.

The end of the shift lever that connects to the selector rod did not clear the belly of the OEM shifting arm as though the shift lever was too short. Also the end of the selector rod that connects to the end of the shift lever had issues with the secure clip. The end of the shift lever was a tad too big.
I believe they sent me the wrong one which was actually for the earlier Z4 not sure. Had to pay the transmission specialist double labor to uninstall and reinstall back the OEM shifter lever which worked fine. Tried calling UUC on Friday but they had already closed so gonna follow up with a call this monday. |

Spoke with UUC today, very easy and nice communication, they are sending me out a new pivot adapter to allow the shifter lever to drop down more
Here is an example of the old one that was too high for the shifter. When I get it in I will measure the clearance as verification and post it as a cross reference for those who have MT E89 Z4 cars with the N54 |

Has anyone figured out how to fix the post shift delay that the 6mt's are plagued with? Otherwise what is the point of a short shifter, if banging the gears causes the delay?

That is tune related. I don't have any post shift delays but I am flash tuned only; don't know if you are or not. None of our customers have issues with shift delays that have been reported

If you Z4 is an later model call and speak to Rob that your going to need the adapter that he sent me, but first wait till I get mine installed to confirm. Atm I am waiting on my engine mounts to come in, the first ones I got were not for the newer E89 Z4 so had to send them back. |
