I would prefer to use the dry type only. I have tried silicone spray but it was messy and didnt last long. You could try the one you bought on something to see if it leaves an oily residue first.

I give up... the residue is "oily"... I'll find another one, and DRY this time
EDIT : found it! but I'm not convinced about the buzz origin : I've noticed I can make it disappear while I push with my finger everywhere to the right of the navi screen, on the screen, or on the panel behind the screen (the best way)... So I'm wondering if the rattle would not be coming from frictions between some deck parts... However I think the main way to erase the rattle is the central speakers panel. If I could put a piece of rubber under... But I don't know how to remove this panel. :/ Last edited by Beryl; 05-18-2013 at 04:20 PM.. |

Sorry to all for resurrecting such an old thread, but this issue is driving me crazy! My 2012's nav screen buzzes ALL THE TIME now, unless the pavement is flawlessly smooth. Only 10k miles on the clock so far. Otherwise the vehicle is still remarkably tight for a drop-top. The buzzing is really putting a damper on driving the car. On longer trips we shove wadded up pieces of paper towel between the right side of the screen and the dash. This seems to dampen the buzzing almost completely, but I fear forgetting to remove the paper towel and burning the motor out.
I'm going to try the previously mentioned 4-in-1 dry lubricant, but I was curious as to whether or not anyone else had success with that, or with any other solution to this issue. When asked earlier this year, my dealer revealed that squeaks and rattles are only covered by warranty in the first year - something I'd never heard before. I opted not to have them go spelunking at my cost as I didn't want the rest of the dash (among other things) to start rattling and buzzing. Thanks in advance for reading/advice.
