iDrive

Hello,

I just traded my 2008 Z4 3.0is in for a 2009 Z4 3.5i my new last years model has all the options except for the iDrive. There is space in the dash to add it I think (unless I am mistaken). I am wondering if any of you out there had an iDrive added to your Z4 Feedback will be very much appreciated!

Have a great week!

Rolf-Dieter

It's possible. Contact this member: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388068

He's helping me retofit idrive on my 335i. You can either buy the parts from him, or find them yourself from a salvage yard (or new) and he'll code them for your car.

You can search www.car-part.com for a salvage yard in your area. Search for common parts like seats, doors etc. Then call any salvage yard that has a 09+ Z4 and ask them if they have the NAV. Also, most salvage yards know that the CIC is VIN locked to that car and pretty much useless to most people. So you can inform them of that and haggle the price down.

I wouldn't imagine that to be possible, can you keep us posted? How is the 335 retrofit going?

Seems like it would be expensive and a real warranty issue...... I know hind sight is 20/20 but why not just bite the bullet and buy a new 2010 with the options you really want ???

With the Z4 you don't need a new dash and the center console trim already has the cutout for the controller so you could get this done for the same price as if you had ordered it with NAV.

The Z4 CIC iDrive retrofit is even easier than the E9x (no dash to swap), but the motorized HD CID will be quite expensive, even used. So cost-wise should be a wash with the E9x retrofit.

Thanks all! I decided my TomTom will do me and the radio is great it shows my playlist of my iPot. Love what BMW did to hide the iPot with the Y connector under the center arm rest ~s~ now only have one cable showing for my TomTom not like my 2008 Z4 where everything was exposed and wires all over the place LOL

Thanks again all, for now I enjoy my 2009 Z4 3.0i without the iDrive, perhaps when I change to a 2011 in the future I will get the iDrive .... Happy motoring enjoy the summer!

Man that was 4 cars ago LOL in 2010 ... my last car was fully as is the one I'm driving now ... love the iDrive now great technology (at the time in my 2008 Z4 the TomTom and iPot served me well thank you).

Let me ask you ... Why on earth would you re-activate such an old thread? What's your point ?
