Water spots on z4
My z4 is sap black and park in open space. Over time, water spots build up (body & windows) and very hard to remove.
Any suggestions to get rid of those water spots? Your help is highly appreciated. |

I have some very bad water spots on my previous car (of course, also black painted). I used the clay bar and it works.
http://www.mothersclaybar.com/ There also others brands available like 3M etc. Don't you hate these water spots! |

A decent product to clean the finish and apply a coat of wax/protectant is Meguiars Cleaner/Wax. Purists will talk about zaino and other high end waxes. Yes, they are good but they require more work than some are willing to put out. Personally I like Klasse products. PS21 makes a good Carnauba wax product but you need to clean/polish the finish first before applying any wax. There is a detailing forum on bimmerfest that can provide a lot more information but keep in mind, detailing products are a personal issue and you will get a lot of different opinions.

Zaino is the bomb, and they have a newer AIO product that works very well and is very simple to apply.
However, after you wash thoroughly and remove all old wax, and before you apply final polish, you should use a good quality paint cleanser. I use P21S paint cleanser, but there are many good ones avaiable. After cleansing, if you still see some water spots, then claybar would be the next step. Then, once the paint is prepared properly, apply your favorite Zaino product (there are now a few choices). You'll never look back; its awesome stuff! |

I have successfully polished out water spots using a Porter Cable 7424 polisher and Sonus SFX-1 followed by Sonus SFX-2. Always apply a wax or acrylic sealant after polishing.
