I'm in the market for a 2011 Z4. Should I be concerned about the roof rattle? Is it pretty much standard on all Z's?

7K miles - No roof rattles, no HPFP problem,no wheel cracks, & no complaints. Looks like this was a nice tight build. Luv'n it!

So if I buy a new 2011 BMW Z4, it will immediately have to be in for the fuel pump issue? Or are the new ones ok?

Yes I know, there was no pun intended in my post

UPDATE

My pump was changed yesterday the car was also re-programmed. Was at the dealer for one and a half day, they had problems with the re-program operation.

Prior to the change out I did notice a kind oaf hauling when accelerating, the hauling seams to have disappeared now

Cheers

Are you saying a change for the better? Some have said acceleration suffers after an HPFP change.

I've not had a chance to call and schedule any repairs on mine yet.

To risk more off-topic hate....Z4 35i vs. SLK350?

Thoughts?

I need to make a decision within 2 weeks, to order one by the time the lease on my 335i is up.

does it feel slower and does it still backfire, when in sport or sport + mode?

It is winter and the roads are not suited for fast driving so to the question of acceleration I am not in a position to answer at this time. I will respond to it as soon as the roads allow to check that out.

My car never backfired. Then I also don't drive it like I stole it

Mine's a 30 month lease, so I do.

My pump failed this past summer so I'm not sure if that's why I didn't get a receall notice. Mine still makes that 'backfire' sound when I let off the gas in Sport + but does seem to have some throttle lag and not as quick accelerating since the HPFP change. Could just be my imagination though and I haven't timed it.

No change to acceleration. Mine feels exactly the same before and after recall was performed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the change folks feel just after the recall is due to the ECU re-learning their driving style. After a while, it's back to normal.
