6 MT with M Sport

When I ordered my Z4 35i I had kind of a hard time getting them to give me a manual transmission because I was also getting the M Sport package. My salesperson had to get special permission. So I'm wondering if this is a "rare" combination. How many of you have this set up?

Z4s are rare, manuals are rare, M packages are rare and 35i with manual M sport is even more rare. you get the point. I ordered a M shift knob from the M package and they had to special order it from Germany. why? because the entire continental US don't have a single piece of E89 M shift knob.

drives me crazy.

There isn't a single 6MT E89 anywhere in mainland China. This option is simply not imported. Neither is the M-sport suspension without adaptive dampers.

Yes there are 3 suspension options in total (I thought the adaptive was also available as non-M sport, but I was wrong)

-standard
-M-sport (10mm lower)
-Adaptive M-sport (10mm lower and adaptive)

And I guess the last option will rename the dynamic drive selector switch from "normal" to "comfort" on some models.

Here is a picture from the configurator on bmw.de because the option is not available in China.

oh shit nice. I think in Canada there's only the standard and Adaptive M-sport.

Swapping standard for KW v3 tomorrow. Really hoping it's worth the money.

Good stuff! Are you getting it balanced with the roof up or down? Please say down.

I had the M-sport suspension on my previous E91 in Europe and loved it there, perhaps except during those longer road trips we went on. Now, while I miss how it stayed flat during cornering, there is no way I could daily drive a lowered car in China. I have lost count of how many times I have scraped my dear Z here, even I am cautious beyond healthy.

I wish there was the option for non adaptive M sport here in the US. I would have been all over that, especially if the lowering was 20mm instead. There is still a bit of a wheel gap right now with the 10mm lowering

i know what you mean brother. one would need some pretty strong will to drive a lowered car in china. probably why i rarely see lowering on the list of mods for sport cars there, usually the exhaust is one of the first steps. just to annoy the neighbours.

im going to the shop to install the kw now. to be honest i would probably get it balance with the top up. in a ideal world id opt for down, but mosport wouldnt let me lap with it down. and i live in a country that dictates the top to be up at least half of the year. bummer.

I have the same set-up and my buddy is having trouble finding a manual transmission with sport package. I told him to just ditch the sport package and get KW v3.

but then you lose out on the sport seats, which are much better then the regular ones.

Might be better just to order, especially Euro delivery, and take the big discount rather than lose the sport seats.

Really? Special permission?
I have the 6spd + M sport package. The NJ dealership didn't give me any trouble ordering it... they were actually kind of psyched, saying they didn't get too many manual orders.

Did you get a chance to test drive one in standard?

Yeah, special permission. Sales guy had to contact BMW to clear it. I just think they're trying to push the DCT. I had a DCT before and am really happy with the manual. It's a beautifully shifting tranny.

You have to stick with Manual, iit is way more fun to drive it. I was debating DCT, cause with manual, i had to order from Germany. So glad i got manual, with M sport.
