Thx for confirming CDM has the washers...I have MY2011 also: I guess I have to press it 3-4 times before the headlight washers come up? It must have the engine running? How about the wiper stalk, does it have to be in a certain mode first or I just pull the lever for the wipers/washers to work and watch for the headlight washers? Thx again.

Tranquility, I'll check tonight or tomorrow and let you know correct procedure. Frankly, until this thread popped up, I hadn't given it any thought how it worked, just did.

As far as I know, if you have the heated steering wheel as well as the passthrough for the trunk into the car, you have the headlamp washers.

Otherwise, it is just a cut-out. I have heard someone actually added the washer feature in a different model of BMW.

They are the most annoying things. Ruin a good detail on a black car if you accidentally pull em!

It obviously differs country by country...

Here (Oz) they all come standard with the BiXenons and headlight washers...

+1. I don't see any situation where I would need it except maybe if it snows. The heated steering wheel and these washers are specific to the winter package which also adds the heated seats and the passthrough. You can have the latter two by optioning them individually but not the former two in the US.

I tried doing this and don't think my washers came up: how to do it properly?

If you had it mentionned nowhere in your options/package list you probably just don't have them. Dave Marien has a loaded car with all options...

Hey Tranquility, sorry I never got around to trying out the procedure to make them work. I'll give it a go tonight and let you know tomorrow or Thursday.

I'm relatively certain it's standard with the addition of the sports package though, so if you didn't order that particular package, it's possible then that you don't have the headlamp washers.

I'll get back to you though
Dave

^Thx Dave. When I bought the car, there was no 'sports pkg' available, so I wonder if it's no longer available or called something else now. I don't see it described explicitly in my materials so I assume that I don't have it. *shrugs*

Tranquility,

Tested this out last night and worked first time;

1. Engine on, running
2. Lights on
3. Pulled back on the washer stalk and it worked

So perhaps you're correct in saying that if you did not order the sports package, then you may not have the headlamp washers. I looked for my '11
Z4 brochure so I could check the standard & option items, but couldn't find it.

Sorry, not much help.
Dave

I guess they phased out the headlight washers? It's weird because we both have MY2011. *confused*

I wish they didn't have those real cutouts in my car if I don't have them. Rather have no cutout because it looks fake haha.

EDIT: Oh, thx for checking.

I don't know the Canadian packages but in the US, headlight washers are in the Cold Weather Pkg. Do you have the heated steering wheel? The heated seats can be stand-alone but not the wheel or washers.

Richard,

I think you're right about the cold weather package. I couldn't recall if they came with the sports package or not (I think I said I wasn't sure); but when I read your thread, I remembered.

And yes, I have the heated steering wheel option (and the headlamp washers obviously).

Thanks for refreshing my memory Richard.

Tranquility, did your MY11 ship with the cold weather package?

Dave

You fellows are so clean

I clean mine every time I get gas on a long tip more often to take the bugs (road kill) off

I cannot understand how headlight washers can create so much excitement
