Another Stupid Battery Programming question

Well it happened finally. The heat has killed my battery. I went to Advanced Auto and picked up a battery for 200$ and installed it so I am back to driving but here comes the lingering issue. I have to get it reprogrammed with the battery type, voltage, CA, CCA and Ah so that the charging system doesnt over/under do it causing me a early failure of the new battery or even worse electrical problems.

The car is simply sitting in my driveway saying you sjut need to tell me what to do. At least that is what my percetion is. I called the dealer and they want $75 to program the car and said it will take an hour to do. The $75 isnt that bad but I have already spent $200 on the battery.

Isnt there some way for me to self program this thing? Has anyone ever done that before? I have heard of usinf INPA or some other software to do it but to be honest i have yet to be able to suscessfully talk to my car with a laptop using such software.

It is rediculous that we even have to go through this. There should be a menu in drive for that. But with that said. If anyone has any experience resetting the power management system on the car let me know. I really would like to save my self the 2 to 3 hours sitting in the shop to get this done.

I haven't done it but plan to when I need a new battery. I have the cable and software ready to go. If you're so inclined I can send you directions on how to do it with INPA.
