Idrive Remote Update???

Just off the phone with BMW Assist after a month long quest to get my services (SOS, My info, etc) working correctly again.

The representative mentioned something interesting. She said Google is making alot of changes and some owners may lose the myinfo/send to car functionality. She said that it is possible to fix that glitch by updating the Idrive software to the newest version by calling BMW Genius and they would walk you through the process. (Avoiding a dealer visit) But She did say it depends on the equipment in the car.

Has anyone done this, and what is noteworthy in the newest software??

Hmmmm....I just looked on Google maps and no longer see where to click to send the destination to the car's nav. Called BMW Genius and they said that Google hasn't incorporated the "send" feature into the new Google maps design. It's not an iDrive SW issue.
You can, by clicking the "?" in the lower right corner of the map, convert back to the old Google maps version and use the "send" feature there. However, BMW said that some people have been having trouble nonetheless.

Really not loving the new Google Maps, and this is just one of the reasons. Sure enough, the feature isn't on the new version - and Send to Car is something I do all the time. As such, I've switched back to classic maps (can change it as a preference) and will stay with it until the new version gets (MUCH) better.

BMW Assist subscribers can still send to vehicle from BMW's "Remote" app. I like send to vehicle feature in Google Maps. Hope they add it back.

I use Send to Car app on Android. Works great. As for getting an iDrive update...I'd love to hear how to go about such an update. I'll watch this thread!

I forgot about the remote app! That's a good choice until Google works things out.
