So its not a hardcore CS M2 but rather a competition package like for the F8x?

^^Yes, this is what I want to know too!

Why has BMW AG registered the "CS"("Club Sport") name but not the "competition" name. ???

Btw... my sources tell me that(at least here in Europe)... by the end of November 2017... we will be able to "order" a hard core M2 CS or Comp model. I surely hope this is true. Deliveries will be in the Spring of 2018!!

ynguldyn Will this still be MY2019?

Also, if you can pleaseee clarify whether it's a "competition pack" or a "competition model."

Thanks!

Glad to hear the i8 is getting a power bump, even if modest

I'm disappointed in the minimal power bump but maybe 15HP official BMW quote might actually be 30 more HP which is a little better. Pshhh who am I kidding. :bs:

This is the revised i8. Which will make room for a more potent i8S.

So that means we are definitely getting a new 6 Series Gran Coupe?

Btw, have we seen the 8 Series Coupe mule yet?

Yes. The 6er becomes the 8er therefore we see the Coupe and Cabrio undergoing testing. Hopefully Arctic testing will allow some new surprises.

Oh, no, not again. It seems like BMW is going to fuck hole model lineup again.. why!?

I like what Mercedes have done with their model lineup. They have completly cleaned it up (like BMW was in 2000s), and BMW are now where Mercedes was in 2000s. Im sure in 10 years, BMW will look at Mercedes and see that their lineup looks more clean and will start their own cleaning too.

Mercedes lineup looks so much better than the confusing BMW-lineup. It also make sense.

1-series 3dr/5dr - A-class
2-series GC - CLA
2-series GT/AT - B-class
3-series lim/tour/GT - C-class
4-series coupe/cab - C-class
4-series GC - CLC
5-series lim/tour/GT - E-class
6-series coupe/cab - E-class
6-series GC - CLE (and now they will remove this and fuck it up with a 6GT, and do 8GC to CLE copetitor)
7-series - S-class
8-series - S-class
8-series GC - CLS
9-series - S-class Maybach

Rather than buy a G30, I have been holding off replacing my F10 with a Next Gen 6 Series GC, which frankly i always thought of the 6 GC as a better, albeit much overpriced 5-Series yet still afordable, but that seems out the window now. I imagine the 8-Series GC will not be affordable.

For your comparison, isn't the CLC a 2-Door compared to 4 GC which is a 4-Door? I don;t think MB has anything like a CLS in the C-Class.

I know, but their massive cleaning of the linue up, make sense for CLA/CLC/CLE/CLS (like GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS). And it is so nice to see that Mercedes has renamed the CL/CLK and all that stuff and included their under A/C/E/S.

BMW should throw whole their lineup, and rename them all so they make sense and looks more clean.

OK, I see we have finally lured SCOTT26 out of that burrow he's been hiding in lately...

About the S55-equipped M2: it's actually unclear, what it'll get as the official name. There are "M2 CS", "M2 Cs", and "M2 Competition" mentioned. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But even if it's the latter, it won't be the equivalent of M2 with ZCP: remember, it's a totally different engine, not an ECU reflash like ZCP does. And yes, in the US it will be MY2019.

I'm still a little confused, but it sounds like we'll first get an 8er coupe/GC/cabrio, but later there will also be an F06/F12/F13 replacement alongside the "6GT"? I'm still excited for a sub-4000 lb M6 coupe (as I know many of us are), hopefully that still happens...

Until further notice, let's just stick to the "M2 CS" moniker ("M2 ClubSport") for the M2 variant featuring a retooled S55-engine.

"M2 Competition" might be merely an internal work name provisionally used inside the system, alike:
  • "Pyrat2" for the F87 M2
  • "Pyrat" for the E82 1M
  • "Jägermeister" for the E92 M3 GTS
1M fender liner sticker: "ACHTUNG: E-82 M.PYRAT"

For the record: screenshot showing an early sign of life of the "M PYRAT" E82 1M (250 kW - the one with 332 kW never made it to the final cut for commercial sale).

So, what you're saying is that the whole current 6 Series will upgrade to 8 Series (Coupe, Convertible, Grand Coupe) and that the new 6 Series will be an entirely different family of vehicles? So no 6er GC, Coupe probably sportier, 6er GT, etc.

Still my question is what BMW will compete with the CLS?

Also, what is this? A 6er or an 8er?

Again, what a great post.

Question: let's say I would like to buy a LCI M4 Coupé (in Spain). When should I place the order?

Thanks!

You should order as soon as you find a dealership that gives you a price you agree is fair and has an allocation for March production.

My money is on the Competition Sport, but that's just a guess.

Definitely not. M2 CS was renamed to M2 Competition, not other way around. Usually codenames come first.

Are there any evidence for the M2 and M3 GTS codenames?

"Pyrat2" was the internal code name for the F87 M2 - info confirmed by Bimmerpost admin Jason (see here and here):
"The code nickname for the M2 is "pyrat2." Why pyrat2? If you recall, the 1M coupe's nickname was "pyrat."

"The model code for the M2 is F87 and the internal nickname is 'pyrat2', following upon the 1M coupe's 'pyrat' nickname. "

"Jägermeister" was the internal code name for the E92 M3 GTS - info provided by former BMW M CEO Dr. Kay Segler and also confirmed on the official BMW M FB page (see here, here and here):
"Awesome side note: BMW M GmbH chief Kay Segler says the internal codename for the M3 GTS was “Jägermeister,” a reference to the famous German digestif and frat fuel with a history of sponsoring motorsports."

"First prototype (codename "Jägermeister") of the BMW M3 GTS series."

"Sadly, only 150 people will have the pleasure of owning one from new, as BMW is limiting production of this 25th anniversary special. Every car will be painted the same lurid shade of orange—BMW Individual Feuerorange II (Fire Orange II), Code U94/2—which led the M3 GTS project to be internally referred to as “Jagermeister” after the orange race cars sponsored by the German beverage company."

@ ynguldyn for 2019 in your first post it is written that we could expect a X7 x-drive 50d is it a typo error or we are really going to see the 400hp diesel in North America?
