N54 Tuning Poll

Hi everyone.
I am considering an upgrade for my 35. It seems to me that it punches like a diesel until 4000rpm but beyond that isn't that exciting, just that amazing amazing engine sound. I believe that many of you might have done an ecu upgrade to begin with and I thought it would be useful to all of us to share our experiences.

1. MANUFACTURER?
2. HP - TQ FIGURES?
3. COST?
4. CHARACTER OF THE CONVERSION ? (f.e. is the gain analog to stock, does it get mad at high rpm, do you sense turbo lag, equally on entire band?)
5. DURABILITY OF THE POWER DISTRIBUTION?
6. ANY SIDEEFFECTS?
7. ERROR CODES?
8. DO YOU ENJOY IT?
9. DO YOU MISS ANYTHING FROM STOCK?
10. FUEL EFFICIENCY?
11. WOULD YOU DO THAT AGAIN?

Let's see what comes out.....

procede and juicebox are the two more common ones out there from what I gathered. I went for juicebox3 simply because its cheap, good, and there is local support for it. It doesnt require any other forms of mods as long as you stick to the safe maps.

Will do a dyno maybe tommorrow and post the sheets up.

Meantime, n54tech.com will have heaps of info on your choices.

I went with JB+ because of the ease of installation. No check engine lights. I haven't purchased any code reading cables/software so not sure about hidden tuner codes. Power really drops off above 5K rpm, but the low end torque is greatly improved over stock. JB3 makes more power throughout and especially at higher rpm's, installation is more involved.

You should also consider the GIAC flash.

I went with ESS flash software. The customer service and follow up has always been top notch. Im not a fan of plug in piggybacks that trick the DME to make power. I prefere my cars computer knowing whats going on at all times. The car drives fantastic and makes very good power.
