I sure hope 2014 brake pads fit in 2009 calipers. I hate how much brake dust it puts out. - True story, after every time I wash my car (spending a solid hour and a half detailing the rims alone), I take the car for a quick drive to get rid of any soap on the rotors. After I get back, the rims are already coated in a light layer of brake dust. It angers me!

For further clarification, is it just a brake pad material change? Or is this a pad+rotor combo change. And do the new pads fit in my 09 calipers?

+1 on the dust on my 09. It drives me crazy after the shortest of drives the amount of dust generated. We won't take it any more.

My 2012 also throws off hardly any dust. It's a pleasure. If I can't this type of BMW pad on my 525, I'm getting ceramic pads.

I have a 2014 28i and it dusts up quite a bit. Must a benefit for the 35i owners.

Agreed. Zero dust on 2014 35i (M-Sport 18" Style 325 Wheels).

low dust / low use usually mean less initial bite and lower max operating temp, so not sure I'd be thrilled by the change. I guess for a daily low dust is the key thing people notice

For my driving, these brakes have enormous stopping power. Have you experienced them on the track? How do they compare to dusty brakes?

I have a 2013 28i. No noticeable brake dust. It's a bit eerie. I have my car washed very seldom--every month or so--and the build-up is slight enough I've never given my wheels a second look because of it.

I erased my post.. Figured you guys don't care about brake pad compound differences I've noticed across 08 328 (high dust OEM) vs. 11 328 (low dust OEM) and many sets of WRX brake pads (aftermarket low dust commuter vs. aftermarket high dust race pad)

Yes my previous post is based on track driving dusty vs. non dusty (dusty better at handling heat, as a rule of thumb) but I haven't sampled different kinds of E89 OEM brake pads... (can't keep the E89 on full boil for too long due to oil temp... )

My 09 and 11 Z4 35i both had brake issues at the track. heated up quickly, poor stopping power, and bad initial bite.

IIRC the 35i has the same brakes as the 30i, where the iS has the upgraded ones (well, by upgraded meaning same as a 335i).

if you want to properly track a Z4, a BBK is needed.

Holy hell man. Do you put tire shine on your tires at the same time? That's an ungodly amount of time to clean wheels. I thought I took a while (30 minutes)
