1st 6 months of ownership not that great in 2009 Z4 35i with 36k.

Love the Z4 but I have had some issues since I have owned it. However, my dealership has really taken care of me. So far they have completed the following:

New DCT - Previous owner had it in the shop once for a leak and I took it in twice for the same leak and BMW decided to just replace the entire tranny.

Blasted Valves and changed plugs under Mechanical and Service Warranty.

Leather started to wrinkle on the dash and BMW replaced the entire dash under warranty.

I drive knob was sticking some and they replaced the Idrive unit.

Drivers window would not act right when putting is up after the roof was down and they replaced the regulator.

Aluminum trim around shifter was replaced because of some wear issues.

Updated programing

6 Injectors were replaced today.

All of these items were done under warranty. I know that most don't have very good experiences with their BMW dealer but Hendrick BMW in Charlotte is great.

My warranty comes to an end in November so hopefully I have tamed all of the Gremlins.

I feel your pain... and at least I'm not alone. Persevere with the car though, they are quite good!

Even though my car has been trouble free mostly threads like this is why I am going to buy the extended warranty.

I too have had issues during the first 14k miles (was new):

2x fails of the roof mechanism each taking a couple of days to fix, New Navigation Head Unit and just this week the drivers seat has developed a really annoying creak. I've decided to book the car in for fixing as now the Navigation fault has re-appeared (Night Mode inop).
Not great really!
The last car was an E46 330cd in which I personally done 60k miles during which I never had to visit the dealer for anything other than routine maintenance - this car had never been out - I call it the YO-YO!!
You know it's bad when three of the staff at the Service Dept know you by your first name! :S

Problems are plentiful and common on the E89... but for me, once you get them fixed they seem to stay that way.
