Stay safe!

Toronto winter weather finally catching up. Was driving quite slowly on the highway due to snow/ice and was changing lanes at a safe speed when I hit black ice and the car slid to the left, I corrected and it slid to the right when I corrected again and finally regained control. Luckily I reacted calmly and remembered not to use the brakes. The Z4 was quite predictable under those extreme conditions, so it was quite manageable to get back under control.

I just traded in my former Alfa Romeo Brera for a Z4, and on the very same day that o gave it to the dealer the very same thing hapenned to me, only diference was that i aquaplanned on the rain... For like 20 seconds i drifted from one side to the other and back again on the highway, oposite locking a cople of times....

Scary....

Everything i had learn on drift school came to my mind at that moment...

I live just south of you in Rochester and had a similar experience in my 525 and did exactly the same procedure as you, which I learned at the BMW Performance Driving School. My friend who was in the car just stared at me and said "I can't believe you just did that!" Drving skills in our part of the world are invaluable.

Not to underestimate your driving skills or anything, but try switching off DSC and then have another go Just make sure there's no traffic.

Actually, come to think of it, I don't think that I saw the yellow DSC light go on during the episode. Who knows.
