Retrofitting slim M-style shift paddles

Has anyone looked into whether or not it is possible to retrofit current gen M-style M shift paddles, as in the picture below ?

And no, I'm not talking about simply adding extensions. like in the below picture:

The reason being is the M-style paddles feel simply "better" when shifting with them, versus what we have.

Ideally, I'd either add extensions to the M-paddles, as in below:

OR, get an aftermarket one that will fit, like the below one:

I hope someone shares my appreciation for the slim, longer paddles here.

Those smaller ones are nice, I wouldn't mind trying those

However, I'm not a fan of the extensions at all. I can't figure out why anyone would need something that big mounted there.

The factory paddles are mounted where your hands should be for optimum control according to many instructors/drivers have told me in the performance/race classes I have attended (Porsche & BMW).

The bump in the steering wheel is designed as a thumb stop, not a grip point. It allows you to grip the wheel there and not let your hand slide out of position if you pinch your thumb around the narrow spot below that bump.

The slimmer paddles feel much more ergonomic for me. When I had an F80 M4 for a week, it was one of the things that stood out for me as an improvement over the Z4 experience, in addition to the HUD (which functioned wonderfully, even under direct sunlight.)

The extensions, albeit a little "ricey" for some folks, add a "supercar" look to the otherwise bland steering wheel, I feel.

Just not a lot of action out here right now - and with the holidays fast approaching.....

I think I'd prefer the longer, skinnier paddles, as the current ones (even with my big paws) seems to not be tall enough, yet a little too wide. Taller ones would allow me to use my index fingers for the levers.

You're right. I think the viewership/contribution here has dropped a lot in the past month.

I'm going to post the same question in the more lively 3 series forum, since they have the same paddle shifters as well.
