Memory Buttons

Hey guys,

So after taking delivery yesterday, I spent most of the night playing with the iDrive.

Quick question. How do you set your memory buttons?

This is what I have so far.

1 - Local FM station.
2 - Local AM news station.
3 - External device - Ipod.
4 - Bluetooth audio.
5 - Spilt screen.
6 - Close nav screen.

Later guys

^^^ It is easy, simply go to the function on the iDrive. Then select and hold the memory button you want to program it to.

My unit only has six buttons, but I like the idea of selecting two different spilt screens. Thanks for that tip.

Sorry I understood: "how do you do it" instead of "what did you set in your car".
Interesting topic since I didn't know we could do that.

Thanks,

I have only a couple set:

1. Close Nav screen
2. Set music to 'Random' (because every time I turn off/turn on the ignition it sometimes resets itself, or at the very least, when I change playback method from (say) By Artist to By Genre, I have to go into iDrive and hit 'Random'. This way it's just a push of the button.

Glad to see this thread. I did not realize that you cold set the IDrive to specific save/memory functions. I am going to have to do this. Thanx.

Brilliant! Thank you. I always have to go back and scroll through the options menu to set to Random. Will have to do this.

My memory button settings

1-set music to random
2-guidance to home
3-guidance to work
4-stop guidance
5-split screen/full
6-night display/daytime display

Radio is on the selector and switching channels on the steering wheel, so buttons on radio are not needed for channel selection any more. Nice as programmable hot buttons!

Most of mine are similar to what others have set. One of my buttons takes me to my radio favorites list... It's easy and convenient to scroll up and down with the selection buttons on the steering wheel, didn't want to use the memory buttons for individual stations.

Are you guys saying that the 1-6 radio buttons below the a/c controls can be used as memory FUNCTIONS instead of just radio stations? If that's the case that's COOOOOOL.

Especially since I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to go from day/night mode automatically. Something that should have been automatic I think.

This is correct. Those buttons can be programmed to do anything (including functions - like turning it into Night/Day mode).

Just highlight the function you want, and instead of clicking the clicker, hold the button you want it to be programmed to and you are all set.

I was surprised that wasn't automatic too. However, I have set mine to night mode and left it. I've never had a hard time reading the map and I actually think the day mode is too bright now. You might give that a try. It'll save you some (minor) fiddling and a memory button.

And if you put your finger on the button without pushing it iDrive will show you what function will be performed if you do push it.

I used to but found I was calling by voice command more often, so I reprogrammed the buttons for bluetooth audio, home address for Nav, etc..
