Turbo exhaust v-band clamp
I am pretty unimpressed with the v-band clamp from BMW, in particular the thin metal plate that is spot welded. Is there a higher quality replacement? Do they fail? (hard to imagine they don't). I realize there is not much room under there.

Thanks ... oddly I've not found any reference to people changes these v bands out on the N54. I'm surprised ... clearance is a bit of a challenge.

Not sure why this is needed because I have never seen one break. It is easiest to install your DP's if you move the steering rack and you use an air ratchet to tighten the bolts. I think that I can do it in a little more than an hour.

So you moved the steering rack and it helped? Good to know.
On my 2011 Z4 It didn't seem like it was going to help any so I left it alone. Pretty tricky to get in there though for sure. The worst was getting the Vband back on. Off wasn't too much of a problem. |
