Downpipes for the E89?

So what's the story on what works versus what doesn't from N54-land? My understanding is AR is out of business. Who is making downpipes that work for our cars?

Thanks,

Filippo

Yeah he doesn't list something either. I'm working with someone locally to see if something can get figured out. I thought I'd read somewhere that the regular N54 pipe required some minor mods to make it work ... argh.

I would disagree there are several other manufactures for downpipes. I would prefer to buy from a vendor still in business.

The clearances and catback systems are different between the cars. I have AR pipes but I feel like they sent me the wrong ones. We had to heat and hammer a small section that was in contact with a bolt coming off the transmission.

My anecdotal research says they are unique for the Z4, though other N54 chassis platforms can be made to work with modification. Like a lot of Z4 stuff, I've not found a definitive answer (pictures or it didn't happen).

I'm hearing similar things in the "outlets" category. This forum also seems near dead with technical discussion (sadly) and I've exhausted the search tool ... ;-)

Thanks all !

The aftermarket for the initial buyer (51 years old, third car) is minuscule, so tuners are not going to want use resources (money) to develop parts for a chassis with very limited appeal.

They want to but not anywhere near the demand for them to pursue it.

Roadster market is tiny so the amount interest for specific parts (tuning) is the same, unless you are in Germany because then you have numerous choices for parts from real tuners and small manufacturers.

probably it is going to be the cheapest one and the lowest quality according to my experience from VRSF 335 products.

I have 335i (n54) akrapovic downpipe with flexy points on my '11 z4 sdrive35i. The only problem is the connection point of downpipe and catback.

I also have fully custom catback so it was no problem to do a 30 min modification on cat back.

I m using it with no problem.
