FYI on stuff I found on line about the 2018 BMW Z5 and Toyota Supra Platforms.

There Won't Be an M Version of the BMW-Toyota Sports Car
The M division will have nothing to do with BMW-Toyota's upcoming sports car, and that's okay.

speaking of lexus, i don't hear anyone talking about lexuses on these forums......

I love Lexus...truly. When I first got out on my own and had to buy my own vehicles I wanted to tune cars, but on a somewhat of a budget and somewhat reliably so. Loved the IS 350 (always loved the IS models) but doing that with an IS 350 (or a 300) wasn't going to fit those requirements. So I went Audi, built two of them, and had my fun. Come 2014, I wanted a change from Audi:

-Wasn't going back to Benz (the C63 was WAY out of my price range and the C 350 same story as the IS 350 back in 2006)

-Lexus nailed the chassis even better so than the previous gen, but was STILL using the same 3.5L V6 mill they'd used since 2006. The lack of power was a deal breaker.

-BMW had the turbo 6's, they could be slightly tweaked to reach more potential than either of my Audi's outside of a big turbo swap. I was really not in the tuning cars mood anymore so the N55 with PPK1 power was more than enough for me. Back when I bought the first Audi, we were all already aware of the serious problems with the 2007 N54's and that wasn't a risk I was willing to take. But 2014, then, was the time to go BMW.

In conclusion, I still love the IS, I would go RC as I don't have an issue with the exterior aggressive styling and the interior is miles ahead of BMW, Audi, and MB. Problem is it's 2016 and they still just don't have the engine yet. If I don't become just so hooked on the roadster lifestlye and want to go back to a coupe...Lexus gives me a TT V6 with the power to match the competitiors (which I have no doubt it would) in a RC, I will probably be gone. I want their service so bad every time I visit the MB dealer with my GF's car or the BMW dealer with mine.

It looks like the 2nd gen Z4 will be last true BMW 2 seater for the foreseeable future. The Z5 or whatever they name it will be a variant of a Toyota Supra, not a BMW. One reason the M team wants to keep its distance so as not to tarnish its brand name.
