My new Z4 35is just arrived ! TV and DVD already unlocked :-)

I just tried the OBDII chip called TVFree from prochip and it works perfectly. Now the DVD functions (from internal DVD reader and 6 DVD changer) and the TV Tuner function are now working while on the move.

The procedure is very simple, it takes 5 secondes. There is no need to dig in the dashboard. Just plug the device in the OBD port click a button on the device, wait for 5 seconds, the screen restart and that's it.

And you can relock the "TV/DVD on the move" at any moment simply by doing the same procedure but clicking one the 2nd button on the device.

VERY SIMPLE.

By the Way... the car is amazing... I tried a 30i manual and a 35i auto, but my god, this 35is !!!

Thanks very much & congrats on the new Z!

Try to type the words "TVFree" and "BMW" on e-bay deutschland as the device is not listed on the prochip site.

I will try to post a video of the result.

The device will allow you to lock/unlock an unlimited amount of times on your car and 2 others... but it's limited to 3 different BMW with the new HDD Navigation system (the serial number of the car is recorded in the device)

it cost about 250 Euros... but worth it !

Yes, thanks I tried that but no German ebay site came up in the search results. Lots of China based sites, but not the one you mention.

What about this; can you provide the Prochip web site and the part number of the device you purchased?

Thanks
Dave

typing "tvfree bmw" in the search of ebay.de will lead you to the product

http://cgi.ebay.de/TVfree-DVD-TV-Fre...item3cac5667f5

And by the way... the IS is way not boring ;-) it's just a plus when you are stuck in traffic jam, in any other situation at this stage, I don't even listen to music (shame for the DAB, hifi pro, DVD changer, TV function...) as the engine sounds so GOOOOD !!!

T89: Yes it was probably me in Satigny... the car is phenomenal !... So agressive comparing to my previous 3.0si Sport Edition.

I just got off the phone with a very nice fellow by the name of Andreas, at Prochip. I've placed my order (249Euros, plus a modest 15 Euros for shipping to Canada via DHL). Supre nice guy & very helpful! Paid via Paypal.

Dead simple to use; ignition on (radio ready only), plug in the OBDII device, press the button, wait for the SAT/NAV to reboot, unplug the OBDII device - you're good to go.

The device is unlimited for the first car you connect to and 3 additional cars (but those additional connections are only limited to 3).

I expect to have it next week and will report back then!

PTW,
I haven't rec'd it yet but not the shipper's fault. I found out from DHL that once it landed in Canada, it got transferred to Canada Post (YIKES!), but I'm hoping by the end of this week.

Since it's literally a 1 minute job, I'll log on and update back here asap. As for your iPhone question, no sorry I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 - BUT I could easily try playing a video from the Bold, probably the same process, at least technically speaking.

I'll definitely let you know.

I ordered the TVfree from Andreas at www.prochip.de this tuesday and i got it delivered to my door today, friday morning. I asked for a quick delivery cause i'm leaving on a Z4-vacation next week with my 6 year old son and i thought it would make the longer legs easier if he could watch a movie.

Andreas said he could not promise but he'd try. Anyway he provides excellent service and recommended UPS. Said and done. Now we can watch DVD's in 200 km/h!

Still waiting for my progressive floormats.............

Just checked with Canada Post and it's now scheduled for delivery next Tuesday, June 1st. Finally. Not Andreas's fault, bloody Canada Post Customs folks.

In any event, as soon as I get it, I'll report back as well.

I assume that you need to have the TV option in order to unlock it ?

(dumb question, I know )

Apologies for the delay getting back on this; finally received it (no thanks to Canada Post Customs folks!!) and it works beautifully.

Highly recommend buying this for your passenger i.e. long trips etc. Nice to have the option for them.

Andreas at Prochip is an awesome guy, very helpful and always willing to answer questions and entertain new ideas.

Thinking about getting the 'open-roof-while-driving' update as well. I'll let you know, assuming people are interested naturally.

Regards
Dave
