Servotronic - How much different does it feel?

It's all about variable steering assist power.
Since we don't have hydraulic power steering in z4 and there is an electric assistant instead. I think this option is only a software to adjust the amount of power assistance related to the speed of your vehicle.

Now my question is: does it only harden the steering in high speeds or it also soften it for lower speeds? In other words, is there any difference for parking the car with or without servotronic option in z4?

If you have a comfort experience with this option please share.

I didn't like the servotronic at first. The power assistance wasn't linear enough, meaning it would suddenly become too heavy or too light too fast. Was caught off guard a few times. So what I did was mostly drive the car in sport mode (meaning heavy all the time). But with time, I got used to it so depending on the speed I roughly know how much force (or lack of) is needed to turn the wheel.
I still think it needs refinement, but overall its pleasant to have. Especially in town/traffic. And its fun to see how the steering weight changes when you switch between normal, sport and sport +.

But referring to your question, I can't say as I haven't driven a z4 without servotronic.

I have noticed that, once fitted with the 19' 296, the servotronic feels heavier (more input needed) to turn the wheel in all modes. Wasn't as light as it was when I had my 17' 276 winter set up. I initially didn't like the lightness of the steering but I ended up liking it especially for parking. Now I need much more effort for parking.
I hope this is normal. Maybe due to the fatter tires or heavier wheels or something.

Yes, according to the UK BMW site "Electric Power Steering (EPS) with Servotronic" is a standard equipment.
