Storage Unit Retrofit
My car came with the ski storage bag assembly - took the bag out and ordered and retrofitted the storage shelves - think this will be handy. Here are the pics

We didn't order the ski bag / storage unit because, frankly, we didn't understand that there was some purpose other than for skis. We really wish there were some way to now obtain and retrofit the little storage cabinet. Apart from all else it seems an opening would have to be cut in the divider between the cabin and the trunk.
Best regards, Ed |

One of the first things that I did when I took delivery of my car was to get rid of the ski bag and snap in the storage shelves. I miss the rear center storage in my '03 and '06 Z4's as it was much deeper, lighted, and you really could fita more in it. I can live without it though, as the 2nd generation Z4 is far superior in every other way.

I've ordered the Cold Weather package that includes these shelves as part of the storage package. Is this ski bag/shelf swap something that can be done quickly and without tools? I'd like to remove the ski bag when we do our Munich pickup in May as the shelf unit will be much more useful for us than the ski bag. What specifically is required to switch them out?

I've got the parts in the pick below left over - somehow my BMW shop over/duplicate ordered the parts and I got these:
For these extras the parts numbers appear to be: -- Frame 52-20-9-181-606 -- Rear Window 52-20-7-220-379 (3 total) Guessing someone would need -- Oddments 52-20-9-181-610 to make it a set PM an offer if they're needed. Cheers Ross |
