Second belgian sDrive 35is on the forum

Hello,

I'm Sebastien from Belgium (hello to s2000Jan), I ordered in February a new Z4 35is (Deep Sea Blue, full leather black interior, 326M wheels). This car replaces my 2 former ones: Audi A3 TFSI Quatto (for daily use), Porsche Cayman S (very basic model for week-end use only).
The idea was that the new car should be used as daily car but still stay fun enough to drive to replace the week-end car.

I have been hesitating a lot between the Audi TT-RS (coupe) and the Z4. A new Cayman S loaded with options was too expensive. After multiple road tests of the TT and the 35i, I decided to leave Ingolstadt (the A3 was my 4th Audi) and get back to München (I already owned a E46 320d Sedan).

The ride of the Z4 (even on 19 inches) is more comfortable than the TT while the handling is still good enough to make sure you easily get rid of your driving license.
The "sensations" in the Z4 are also higher than in the TT. Even with a less precise steering you somehow still feel more connected to the road.
Steering of the TT is exactly the same electro-hydraulic system than on the A3, making it quite light in all situations, especially when you compare it to the Cayman. I suppose the servotronic of the Z4 probably helps in keeping the felling "heavy" enough.
To be complete, better service from the BMW dealership than the Audi one (my wife drives a 118d Hatch) and a much better financial offer from BMW also played in favor of the Z4.

Today the most painful part of this long quest to get the little blue thing in my garage has begun: it just arrived at the dealer. I'll try to see it through the gates tonight when I get back from work. I'll go to the dealer on Monday to arrange ordering of the accessories and then wait 1 more week until the people from Protech can finally go to the BMW dealer to apply the treatment on the car.

I know the topic is useless without pictures, but a bit of patience will be needed.

Looking forward to see your beauty.
Why did you choose a Protech treatment? Is it making that much difference? Worth the money?

Protech DOES make a difference and is definitely worth its price.

It's most spectacular on dark colours (we have a black 118d and our neighbour a black 318d, the 318 look grey when parked closed to our 118).
You can even feel the difference: protech makes the car feel like it was just polished during months (and every year they have to check and correct the treatment).
The car becomes also much easier to wash: karcher with hot water (also works for brake dust on the rims) and there you go.

The Z4 is the 5th car I'll have treated and I'll keep getting it applied on all my future cars.

Hi Sebastian,

I am also from Belgium. Where can I contact the guy from Protech and what is the cost for the treatment?

BTW. Congrats for your new toy.

Michael.

Hi there,

Today I had an appointment at my/your dealer and saw your car next to another sdrive3.5is (a white one) and an sdrive2.3i (a black one, almost like mine). Together with the one in the showroom that made a total of five Z4's in one place... It's amazing to see how many Z4's are being sold in our rather small city... The guy from the cleaning company told me that the two other cars were to be cleaned today and that delivery could be any time now. I suppose you will be taking delivery soon too? Anyway I love the rims!!! A pity they were not available last year...

Indeed, Z4's are popular here... actually they are the only garage in Belgium that has sold 2 35is so far.

The white one was supposed to be black but the person changed his mind.
Mine is getting its protech treatment applied tomorrow (they where programming it and installing the ipod adapter today). The white one is already ready.

The black 2.3i from the garage and the 2 35is will on display in the showroom on Thursday for an event that they are holding there in the evening.

Delivery is planned for Friday afternoon.
