My order will be one manufactured in August. Hopefully I can get the new toy by the end of October, if not November or December.....

May I ask what may seem to be a silly question?

Since Hong Kong has gone back to being a territory of China can you drive wherever you want to on the Chinese mainland? If so, do they have a good highway system for touring in your Z4.

Thanks.

Since 1997, Hong Kong became a "Special Administrative Region" of China. Theoretically, we have our own government, and economic system.
To cross the border to mainland China, we still need travel documents and need the process of going through the custom.
For vehicles, special registration, and a special car plate, are required before the car can pass through the border to the mainland.
Even so, the places we can go are also restricted to certain provinces, according to different registration.
Highway systems in big cities are quite well established now; the only problem in China nowadays is the political system and legal system!

I’ve been told I am the first and only customer ordered the manual version of E89 in HK.
Sound nothing special for me because it just a matter of choice, I get use to drive manual cars since the first day I received my driving license. I realize that manual car has low resale value because HK people don’t like manual due to HK traffic conditions; still I prefer manual because maneuverability, fuel consumption, fun, maintenance costs and others.

Dealer told me car will be ready on August but no confirmation on date, dealer did inform me it will take a bit more procedures because transport department will examine the car (non-standard conf.???) before delivery.

BTW, I’ve got HK$6K rebate from standard price list and paid less than HK$10K for car insurance (thanks Lomay for info.).

Cheers.

Hey guys

When your agent ask you to pay the second deposit (another 5%), that is the time when they received the bill of lading of your car. They will know which ship she is on. Get the name of the ship and check the ship's ETA on the internet. Mine came on a Hoegh Line auto carrier. I monitored her shcedule to HK and know exactly which date the ship arrived HK. About 10 working days later, you should get you car.

Poor fellows here have to do all these by our own effort because BMW treated us like dirt..... unlike lucky guys in US or Europe, they can track the car online through out!!!

Mine will arrive to HK this week. I think I can get her in two weeks. If your car was built on July, you may expect you will get her end Sept/early Oct.

Just call the dealer checking out the status; replied

"Car is here and waiting for inspection by the transport department"

Maybe Henry Tang wants to take it for a spin? That could take an extra week through customs by the time a couple tanks of gas.
