Replacing and coding the EMF module
Does anyone have any experience with coding/flashing a new EMF module. Trying to help a friend out with the errors from hell from the EMF. He just said screw it and bought a new one. Normally for a module it just needs to be default coded to write the VIN to the module or flash it with WinKFP but that's not working in this case. Is there something special that needs to be done for these? Thanks.

Which car is it, and did they buy the latest version of the EMF module directly from BMW? I know they are expensive, and some people try and buy used modules repaired by others.
I started getting problems with my e-brake, and just swapped the module to the latest version from bmw. All problems gone, never found out why. I wrote a bit more about it on the first page of my build thread on spo olstreet under the Z4 section. |

It's a 09 35i and it is the latest version from BMW and was bought using the VIN to ensure accuracy. Being a E9x guy, I can handle anything on that platform but this has me stumped. To make it even more difficult I'm trying to help him remotely since he lives in France. It shows in INPA with ZB# but when trying to default code with NCS Expert it doesn't write the VIN or flash via WinKFP just produces errors, and only with that module. All others will code/flash just fine. Are these prone to any kind of wiring degradation/corrosion that causes a connection issue?
