Breaking news: 2009 BMW Z4 to have a hard and soft top
We have just learned that the upcoming BMW Z4 will have both options: soft and hardtop. The source is absolutely credible, so no reason to doubt that
I'm not sure if the moderator will remove the link, but here is the article http://www.bmwblog.com/2008/04/10/yo...nd-a-soft-top/ Personally, I prefer the hardtop, but just because I live in the Midwest, so pretty much our winters last for 6 months |

I guess he's referring to the originally mislinked article.
Hard top and soft top option? I don't know how I feel about this... I think the people that want the performance would prefer the fixed coupe top anyway, those who want the convertible obviously care less about performance so why not just make it up to date and metal? Yeah it will weigh a little more but wouldn't it also be more rigid and hence provide better performance with the top up compared to a soft top??

Now BMW can satisfy those that are all about performance (coupe), those that want a droptop but they don't want too much added weight (softop), and those that just want the car for the droptop and not so much about the performance (hardtop).

to the OP... dont u think its a bit biased to put a poll "which is better, 335, s5, g37" on a BMW enthusiast website? i mean, that defeats the purpose entirely.

I'm really happy to hear this (if it's true). I love my soft top and would never want a hard top. The soft top is light, insulates well, takes up very little room when open so that you have lots of space in the trunk, and it comes down FAST. I really don't want to have to pull over by the side of the road waiting for the hard top to fold in.
Was disappointed to hear about switching to the hardtop originally, but this new news is happy-making! |

If I remember right, we mentioned several times in our articles that we truly love the Audi's interior in compare to BMW, but we love the bimmer handling. Plus, polls and comparing articles are always fun, especially since it gets people to express their opinion. Anyway, we try our best to write some interesting articles, sometimes we are successful, other times, maybe not so much, but so far, I think we do an OK job |

Hard top or soft i think the good news is they're going to be built in Germany, Euro delivery in a roadster should be great in spring/summer.
Probably will be next car i get. |
