2013 questions.................

Have a 2011 35is that is coming off lease soon. Love the car, but instead of keeping it thinking about buying a new one, different color, proper paddle shifters are 2 reasons. Does the new model year have the bright white angel eyes like other new models? Also, is it still the N54 engine? Thanks.

Just curious, but what are the proper paddle shifters? I have a 2012 iS, and the paddle shifter is quite possibly the least used piece of equipment I have.

The LED halos (white ones) are coming in the LCI (MY 2014 I believe). The Z4 28i uses the N20. The Z4 35i uses the N55, and the Z4 35is uses a slightly tuned N54.

Re: the angel eyes... They are still yellow like all the previous years (at least on my 2013 and all the others I saw at the dealers).

The general consensus seems to be that nothing on the lights have changed for the 2013, rather an LCI refresh (not entirely sure exactly what that means) will bring the revised lights mid model year, sometime after January.

In this thread, some shots are posted of a 2013 (picked up a month or two ago at the Welt) and the lights look the same.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=646645

I'd be happy to dissect mine once I pick it up in SC... but I have to wait until December 6th. To my knowledge, the only changes for MY2013 are some button labels on the interior and the standard options list.

Was it by chance BMW of Alexandria? That's the only place I could find in the region that had ANY 2013 is's for a test drive last month.

Sorry that's incorrect. No e89 currently has the N55 in it.

N20 in the 20i/28i and N54 in the 35i/35is.

Thanks for info. I know some have bought aftermarket bulbs for the angel eyes, that would be an option. The paddles on the 2011 35is are pull and buttons on both sides, pull for upshift and push button for downshift. The paddles now are the better configuration of right pull for upshift and left pull for downshift, I use the paddles 100% of the time! I may just turn the car in and take a breather until the new M3 and Z4 refresh come along, but that will be mid 2014 on the M3/4 Coupe from what I'm hearing.

You are miss informed!

All Z4 E89 3.5i and 3.5is have the True Twin Turbo N54, not just the 35is.

I think part of the confusing is BMW marketing speak "twinpower". This is the marketing name for both the Twin Turbo (N54) and Twin Scroll single Turbo (N55) motors.

Oh. I thought they had completely phased out the regular N54. My bad.

It's still not clear when the LCI and N55 will be introduced. I have spoken with several sales people.
So the E89 is the one and only N54er.

As for as i know the 3.5i has the N54 until may 2011, later it has the N55.
I speak for the production of Europe but that makes no difference. I think.

Sorry for my englisch.

It does get confusing. I thought the 35is was the only N54 engine, same as in the 335is and 1 M Coupe'. Going forward, will the is models stay with the N54 or will all eventually have the twin scroll N55?

There is much confusion over this, having owned both a 2011 and 2012 3.5i both have N54.

Check WWW.REALOEM.COM and it will show N54.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do...&trans=&arch=0

Funny thing is the BMW Sales force many times think its not. But check the parts counter and you will find its N54.

Other N54 info, BMW changed mid 2010 1 series *(non-M). It changed from N54 March of 2010 to N55.
I have a Feb 2010 build 1 series, it has the N54, next month they switched mid year production to N55. Again USA data.

That is your belief, but it is not fact. As stated, the e89 has yet to have the N55. It is still N54. Perhaps LCI will bring the N55, no one yet knows.

I thought this as well but the forum (and opening the hood of my car!) made it clear the 2012 model year 35i has the N54

I think the current 35i technical data shows the c02 emission and fuel consumption numbers of the N54 engine.

I would use my paddle shifters more often if they were longer like in the M3 as I like to hold the wheel at 4 and 8 o'clock positions.

you can install the 2012+ paddle shifters in your car. i think the part is about 300-350. they are plug and play so you don't have to modify anything
