Do you know of replacement cross drilled rotor for real wheels? I found the following listing from ebay. Would this work for 30i?

I contacted Noel from Rotora yesterday afternoon and he says he can do both the fronts and rears for the E89! I am thinking about it, looking to take the plunge before March.

Extended Float Drive Hardware
Billet Aluminum Caliper Bracket: 7075-T6
H9 Carbon-Metal Endurance Pads
Stainless Steel Brake Lines: DOT Compliant

$3,795.00

Rear:
FC4 (4-Piston Caliper): Forged, Titanium Piston Inserts, Anti-Knockback Springs, Natural Anodize Finish

Brembo vs Rotora? Really?

PM or Call me and I will get you set up with the Brembos at a great price. I have seen so many people go the Rotora route and take them off for a multitude of reasons. You dont want to go there.......

$5-7K for F& R brakes OMG. Granted the stock calipers are nothing to write home about but are you tracking this car and experiencing brake issues. Do either Brembo or Rotora rear calipers accept the electomechanical actuator for the e park brake or do you have to use chock blocks with these kits? Seriously these mfgs are taking you downtown.

*laughs* 7k is excessive, but my curiosity was piqued by the claim that the rears have been done. However, with no confirmed rear fitments on the forums I'm reluctant to play guinea pig. I've decided to get a Drexler LSD first, followed by coilovers.

Still can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on brakes and rotors... Been hounding the guys over at MGP Caliper Covers to make a set that fit the 35is and they are making me a set of Black ones - no logo. I'm not trying to pose as something else, just cover the hideous looking stock calipers as with the open design of the wheels, they stand out like a sore thumb. I'll post pics when I get them installed.

Hey Mr Breeze - long time no hear.
I thought you must have been out having too much fun...

I would be interested in this cover solution. Red or Yellow might look good. with a simple BMW text logo.

As long as they can cover the front and back... For a reasonable price...
Look forward to the details, pics and prices.

Hey Dr Stig,
Yes, it has been a while. Too much time playing with my other BMW's (R1200R and the new K1600 GTL - 2 wheelers)

Here's the link:
http://www.calipercovers.com/

They aren't the fake plastic Brembo types, but rather powder coated aluminum. They are $200 with the MGP logo and the bolt pattern. If you go without the MGP letters but with the bolt pattern it adds $25. They don't have the roundel logo, but they can do "BMW" in the same style as their standard MGP letters.

I thought red might look good, I considered painting the calipers (I even put red masking tape on the calipers so I could see what it would look like) and I did like the touch of red but I thought it would draw too much attention to the calipers which in my opinion don't look good - unless maybe in black or silver so it blends into the dark shadows inside the wheel. If I were to do either BMW BBK or Brembo BBK, I'd do the red, but for now, just the covers to hide them a bit more.

I'll post pics when I get them so everyone can share their opinions.

I was thinking, a guy could get them without any lettering and adhere some small roundels on each one if you wanted to.

Oh, and on the site they say it aids in brake cooling....not so sure about that. Didn't see any test data to verify that.

I had a look at the website..

Not my cup of tea.

All I could think of was this old Puegeot ad.

LOL.

I'm trying to HIDE the ugly brake calipers - Black covers should make them disappear into the depths of the wheel.

Just a couple of comments:

The caliper covers are terrible. I realize they're not plastic, but the calipers are a functional component of the vehicle, they should be seen as designed.

I'm assuming people are shopping/buying BBKs, 90% for aesthetic considerations? I've run several stock systems with just a pad/fluid change, on tracks all over the Southeast, and rarely ran into situations where I was blowing out the brakes. I can't imagine any street level usage where brakes would fade. I don't disagree that they look outstanding, just wondering if anyone had any issues?

If you can engage your ABS, you're at the threshhold of the tires, which are actually what stops the vehicle (the brakes only stop the wheels )

Looking forward to seeing some installed!

With motul rbf 600 and ebc yellowstuff or coolcarbon pads you should have a fadefree braking system even on racetracks.

If you think they look ugly now, try adding a little rust to the equation. I mean WTF? This is a 90K euro car, not a Dacia.

I love my little rust bucket, but stopping at the lights is becoming a problem, because I'm worried that either the pedestrians will laugh at me or the brake calipers are pulverized when I hit the brakes.

Surely this is not normal/acceptable? And apologies for further hijacking this thread.
