Sport plus

Can someone tell me if they notice a big difference over the sport mode on the 35is when the car is put into the sport plus mode?

Thanks

the biggest difference is that traction control is off. If you have DCT, then shift response time is quicker.

I could notice a difference. When I had my 35is I usually put the dual clutch in sort mode, traction in dynamic mode (one push on button) and left the suspension in comfort. I think it tracked a lot better. I wasn't a fan of the 19" runflats.

I don't think what you said is possible. You have the suspension control (DDC) and the transmission control (DCT). There is no way to put the "traction" in dynamic mode, and leave the suspension in comfort. Unless I am mistaken? If so, please enlighten me to where the dynamic traction mode button is! I would like to use that!

Sport + does not turn off traction control, it lowers the sensitivity some. I can get a little bit of wheel spin and a little bit of slide while in Sport + and none in normal.

If you hold the DSC OFF button for a few seconds you will disable the system. Play around in that mode and you will realize that Sport + doesn't 100% disable TC/DSC.

One other thing to note, in Sport + you can not use Cruse Control, because it lowers the response of the DSC system.

To answer the OP, in Sport + I get better throttle response and the transmission control is different from Sport. It will hold gears to a higher RPM and shift more aggressively. Drive in Sport + around town several times then start using Sport. You will notice a difference. So much so for me that I almost always drive in Sport + because I like the way it handles, I can get just a small bit of tail slide and a little tire spin, but not enough to cause me to spin out.

That's it.

Pushing just the traction control button once activates Dynamic Traction Control. It expands the performance a bit by allowing a little more slip and slide before the traction jumping in. If you push and hold the traction button until the warnings come on, then you have deactivated the traction control. Smokey burnout mode.

So stick to the left, comfort on the selector, and traction one push gives you comfort suspension with more slip allowed and agressive shifting.

+1

It got better when I moved to 18" RFT. I suspect 18" non RFT HPDE oriented tires will be even better

Sport+ or DTC traction control mode is nice for street driving. DSC OFF can bite you on the street if you aren't paying attention

I have a 28i and honestly don't feel much of a difference b/w sport and sport+. I usually drive in comfort mode with shifter to the left. A combo of sport and left shift usually is the max throttle I can get out of the car.

Have never tried DSC off in comfort mode, though.

Also, I was wondering about the sound of the car in sport+ mode. I does seem like it is a bit more 'noisy', but not much performance difference.

I can only answer for 35i DCT which has different steering programming than the 35is.

In mine the steering feels different between sport and sport+. The DCT shifting points also sit a bit higher in the rev range both in DCT D and S modes. Finally I also think gearshifts in sport+ are more punchy in S mode, but I am not 100% sure. I like the steering feel in sport+ over the feeling in sport so I usually drive with DSC=off (which offers steering feel similar to sport+ and feels different from sport and normal in my 35i). Keep in mind that I am not on oem RFTs anymore.

Although when just cruising I also love the comfortable feel in normal mode (it is light, ignores uneven road surfaces and I can basically drive in an out of traffic with just one finger on the steering wheel). Ie there is a time for both normal and sport+/DSC=off modes, but I usually avoid the "middle" sport mode. It somehow just feels too "elastic"/"rubbery" with the tires I use right now.

I still think this table is true for 35i DCT cars.

With the 35is, the steering gets stiffer for sport and a little more for sport +.

I agree, with everything in normal I can drive with one finger. Put Sport + and put the DCT into sport shift and the steering is so tight I need to use a hand or 2.
