The web pages are German on the left and English on the right. I read on another post that this was a screwed in product. I emailed the company to verify. The windscreen that goes inside the roll hoops is not glass, but makralon - some kind of plastic. All 3 pieces together are $400 plus shipping.

I wouldn't really worry about 3M double sided tape (if that is what is used) being a problem in the long run. There are many spoiler out there that just attaches via double sided tape w/o much problem and that is exposed to the weather. Some even use it on bumper lips.
The deflector is actually inside the car and my guess is your car won't be sitting in the sun (or rain) with the top open very often so again, I wouldn't worry about it's durability.

I just received an email back from Windschott and they say that the brackets screw into the holes in the OEM roll bar cover (meaning you need to buy these roll bar covers from BMW, but they're not expensive). And the glass is "special car glass". Tmepered? They didn't say but likely.

With these deflectors, the windscreen installe is actually even pushing those holders to the sides further with more pressure for better grip and hold. I honestly would not worry about it coming off at all.

I tried to remove a spoiler from a car that used the 3M tape to hold it in place. It took me hours! A hurricane followed by a tornado followed by a flood would never have gotten that spoiler loose! I'm fine with 3M tape.

Not a big fan of double sided tape BUT these have been tested to the rated speed of the Z4 and have T.U.V. certification for the E89. Found nothing negative on the German Z forums about this product.

It uses 3m automotive adhesive.....or so the package insert said. I do agree with the comment that with the windscreen in it pushes the the brackets toward the roll hoop cover. The windscreen has a very, very snug fit. It would be a pain to remove it to much.

ORDERED! I'm so excited my nipples are hard!
I went the stroke-the-ego route and told the wife her beautiful hair will remain beautiful even at 65mph (not sure if the 65mph claim is accurate, however!). |

Adhesives are holding the emblem, windsheild and other parts of the Z together. If they are using a proper adhesive and you prep the surface properly it should be permanant. Glue has come a long way in the past 70 years.

I installed mine on my ED in the parking lot of Welt on 9/19/10. Sometimes it creaks a little on rough roads but other than that no issues. Makes a huge difference in the cabin.

Hmmmm, I estimate it blocks 80 percent of the wind at highway speed. Her hair will still be messed up but much, much less so. I am ok with going into work after driving to work with the windscreen, pre-windscreen no way!

I think I'm leaning towards this solution. And its less expensive.
