why do people say z4 is a girl car?

sure, it's small but i never thought of it as a girl car. what defines a girl car anyway? i see lots of women driving the x5, but no one would ever call it a girl car. i really like z4's compact package. makes parking jobs a dream i bet.

havent heard this one before? If anything I have had nothing but compliments on the car from tons of guys. But I do think the two women who worked on the car did a heck of a job. Watch the videos on youtube about how much thought and care went into the designing of both the interior and exterior of the car. To me, its brilliant.

I've heard it being said about the E85, but only by other BMW drivers and never to my face (only in forums such as this).

I used to drive the Smart Roadster, which was voted Gay Car of the Year in France. I took that as a compliment of my taste

It is my wife's car but I drive it sometimes; when I do, I always receive compliments from tons of guys and gals . . . it is just a cool and classy car

I don’t think so. I saw whole bunch of chicks and middle-age women drove their merc SLK, audi TT and even Porsche in the weekend. Can we say SLK, TT & Porsche are ladies car?

To put in some honesty I am guilty of calling the z4 a girl car.
I said it as an owner of a viper, s2000 and mustang fastback.

I now own a 09 z4 35i. I thought the older z4's, in particular first gen was a bit girlish to me. Now the coupes I've always loved. And when the new styling came out, I was blown away.

Its pretty similar to how I didn't like Harley Davidson to much and never thought I would fit the image of one, until the VROD came out. Its a matter of taste and opinion in all.

Hopefully I don't get flamed too badly.

Aside from some minivans and SUVS (Lexus RX) that are associated with a high % of female drivers, I don't think there are any cars that you could say are purposely feminine. Why would a car manufacturer want to shut out an entire segment of buyers?

The color choice of a car can make or break the feminine connotation. The Z4 in hot pink would not be the most masculine car, but a Black Z4 parked alongside it would not be viewed as feminine either.

Now if someone pulls up alongside me and makes a comment, I'll just gently tap the accelerator and let them stare at my car's backside as I leave them behind.

I need some coffee, this post isn't making sense.

when you hear people quote "beauty is on the inside", that's just something ugly people say

same thing, when a guy says it's a girls car, it's because he's a fruitcake and if a girl says it, it's because she wants one.

"It's a man's car." said by Richard Hammond (Top Gear) about E86.
More over Julian Blasi, The exterior designer of E89, said that they wanted to create something sexy. So I know if I drive a z4, I have something sexy in a girl's eye.

I owned for some years serveral Z3's. People's opinion was that this car had a feminine appearance.

When I bought the Z4 E85, some jugded that this is a man's testosterone car. A real take it or leave it car. Some loved it, some not.

For the E89 it looks like BMW wanted to get a nice mix of the E36/6 and E85/86, so it looks a little bit more feminine than the E85/86 but it has plenty of testosterone in its appearance. To finish my story, Julian Blasi and the exterior designer team has done a great job of creating a great car. My wife said once, it seems that Julian has a good point of view of what men like.

I'm happy that the girls love it and are attracted to it.

Also, you've posted this question in the WRONG forum. People said this about the previous generation Z4 and Z3. I don't know why and don't care why they said this. You''ll find that the majority of new generation Z4 owners don't care either. Completely different car.

No one has ever said that about the new generation Z4, and rightfully so.

People saying it either can't afford one or don't have one. Its like that with everything these days. If they can't have it...They will flame it.

Can't wait to hear the comments when I drive into the parking lot at work. "Wow! did you rob a bank?...Did your rich uncle leave you some money...etc"...I'm just going to tell them the company gave it to me as a bonus Sorry got carried away...

I had a Z3 for years with no "girly " comments, I switched a to an M3 and my Gf was Ok with it but kept reminding me that it didn't look like a sports car Quote:"I should have bought your Zed" etc, now I have the E89 and we are both happy so from a girls perspective it's a "Hot sports car" and from my perspective I have the car I want and couldn't care less about what anyone else thinks.
Most disparaging remarks come from muscle car people who just don't understand.....

one of my admin's (she's older), said "wow! is that a maserati?" it was funny but pretty cool that some people think it's that nice/expensive.

Jealousy on part of the person making the comment, unless a girl is driving one, then it is a girls car...

This.

When people say it's a girls car, they're either jealous because they have a sedan and their wife/girlfriend won't let them get a Z4 (haha!) or have they just have no style. Or because what they really mean is that it gets plenty of looks and compliments from the girls but they're too envious to admit it.
