I ordered the ash wood against Walnut. The Beige was just too light for me ;-)

I went to my dealer today and asked the very same question. I didn't get an straight answer, only a smile and silence! I take that as at they can but it's not supported by BMW AG.

But as long as they haven't done it, I really don't know.

I would like to get both the steering and DCT upgraded!

And what's not support about it? Mechanically, there is no difference between the two cars, except maybe the exhaust has a slightly different note. It's no different than taking it to Dinan or one of his minions to flash it: remap the turbo wastegate control for more boost, remap the steering, make the water pump work a little harder, the DCT shift patterns are better, and wallah - you suddenly have extra hp and tq.

I'm sure some dealers are willing to do it.

When did the ballots go out?
Was this a price-dependent or price-independent vote?
I haven't decided yet if the 35is is my favorite over my own 35i.
Is it too late to send a write-in vote?
Define "everybody".
Apparently, they didn't get the note that you are the official spokesperson for the e89 community! OK, I kid! I couldn't help. Peace!

Well, there are some guys paying >10.000 USD to get those upgrades by buying the 35iS, so why would BMW do it on an 35i?

I also belive some dealers are willing to do it. But i still don't belive BMW AG would support it.

Dinan only have shops in US and GB.

Everyone likes to quote that price difference but it's not entirely correct. The STD options on the "s" help to offset the difference, depending on how you config of course. I was looking at the 35i but after you add DCT, Msport and an upgrade in wheels the difference between the 35i and the "s" is more like 5K. Throw in an ED discount and it's even less than that.

With the 35i I was already starting to look at tuning programs. But then you run into warranty issues with BMW which was something I didn't want to mess with even though the better ones state that they are undetectable. I'd end up spending more than what the "iS" will give me as standard under full factory warranty... something doesn't work, it's not my problem.

For the moment the "iS" is the top of the range in the Z and though I still think there will be a true M, but I do know that I won't be able to afford it. So when my CA informed me that I could acquire the "iS" for less than 5K more.. it was a no brainer for me.

Agreed. I have priced my wife's 2010 35i and it is $68.3k then with the IS version of the same car is $72.8k. So, really only about a $4-5k difference with a heavily optioned car. As much as I do not care for the rear valance or aluminum look mirrors, we would have ordered the IS had it been available; probably black sapphire with walnut extended leather.

I'm thinking ( hoping really) that with Black sapphire that rear valance will all but disappear.

I think you are correct on the color choice in order to minimize the valance debacle. The perfect combination would be the aggressive 35is front bumper with the classy 35i rear valance.

You are right!

I forgot i did that math myself earlier this year, same options as i choose for my 35i the 35iS was about 4000 EUR.

My 35is should be at the BMW/Mercedes processing facility in Baltimore as of this morning. It has to be delivered to Chicago, so I'm hoping in the next week or two.
