Broken comfort access

So for a while now my driver side door handle has been somewhat iffy with the comfort access. It refused to lock, sometimes refused to unlock until I pulled the handle all the way. Took it to the dealer who had to replace the door handle! Thank god I'm still under warranty. The part alone is close to $400.

Of course the part had to be special ordered. So two trips to the dealer. And now I have to go back to the Clearbra place to get the new door handle treated. What a hassle. I love my Zed, but I wish it was as reliable as my Honda Accord.

Does your Honda have comfort access / as many gadgets and electronics as your z4? If not, that's why it's more reliable!

yeah... comfort access works... but definately have to develop the technique / right touch for reliable operation.

for example when approaching the trunk, if my key is in my back pocket, I have to swing my ass towards the trunk and lift the emblem with just the right timing. Kind of hilarious actualy :-)

I've had this issue a handful of times too. Usually I just have to pull the key out of my pocket and then pull the emblem handle again and it works, no need to actually press anything on the keyfob.

Remember guys the CA key fob takes a replaceable battery. It does not recharge in the dash (like the non CA key fob's) or your pocket.

Really? My SA told me that it does, he even recommended I insert the key in the ignition about once every two weeks or so to prevent it from running out of battery.

But still, my car is less than 3 months old so I don't think the battery life is the problem.

CA has a battery that will need to be replaced. When the CA remote battery gets low a light in the cluster display will light up letting you know to replace the battery. It does not recharge. Only the standard FOB does.

OOooups! Tell your SA to read the manual! If you have Comfort Access it is recommended NOT to leave the keyfob in the ignition hole.

Is there any harm to doing that?

I must confess, I haven't read up on that part of the manual myself.

I really don't know, but I guess it's the same as charging a non-chargable battery. I never tried it.
Manual says "shall" only in exceptional cases be put in the ignition. Like put the DCT in N with engine off in a carwash. Wich we never will do anyway, right?

Also difference between countries as if you leave the keyfob in the ignition and a dog or a child locks the car from inside, you can not open the doors with the doorhandle. Cracking the window will do harm to your car

I keep a spare battery in the car. Haven't had to use it yet in 2 years.
