To the OP, the key & batt with a slash through it indicates the fob battery is low, not the car battery. Mine was doing that just before trading it. The dealer said to just replace the battery in the key fob.

agreed delt with my share of nasty people in my day and I admit crazy is a nice word for what I thought of them. But its hard not to lose it when they sh*t all over your brand new $55,000 pride and joy. My bigest concern is that they are not going to fix it and r just stringing me along. Three weeks seems like a long time to get a part for a car thats still in production

Also keep in mind, the brakes are electronic and I believe it drains batteries while activated, it uses little power but it still consumes it. How long was the car sitting w/o being driven?
The parking brake uses a locking screw type actuator, once it is set, no power is needed or applied to maintain the pressure on the rear rotor from inside the piston. It is designed to be "fail safe" even if the battery is removed, and requires power to be applied to be released.

So does this mean that we don't have to leave the car in gear when parked in case the parking brake fails? It sounds like it electrically activated then completely manual once it's engaged.
