Should be operable both ways. Just keep a print out of the guide in you car at all times.

Modules can be programmed via laptop or the turn signal stalk. This has been and will always be a feature.

1 spot left on the group buy.

What does it mean when u r instructed to "hold open down for 4 seconds" in the fn 3 programming instructions for remote fob top up/down operations?

Does that mean you tap the lock and unlock in rapid succession as stated a couple of lines earlier but hold down the second button for 4 seconds?

When you hold the unlock/lock button for 4 seconds or longer and let go, it'll open/close the top. When you tap/hold the unlock/lock button for 1 second then it'll open/close all the windows.

Ah. The statement about tapping both lock and unlock in rapid succession was what was confusing me.

Thanks!

Probably a really Dumb Question relating to the the option for the folding door mirrors.

My Z has 'electric mirrors' so they the viewing angle can be adjusted from switches inside the car. Is this sufficient? or does 'motorised mirrors' mean something else.

Other than this difficulty with my 'head' the unit is installed and working beautifully, some minor teething troubles, but they relate to my understanding rather than the unit.

Nice job guys.

Cheers

"Motorized mirrors" = folding mirrors.

SmartTop Installed

Working perfectly. What should be the maximum speed driving using the SmartTop?

25mph.

Also, another thing I am really loving with the smarttop, the unlock door feature once the ignition is turned off. It eliminates the opening the door twice to get out problem. I got used to it fairly quick but for my passengers, most tend to pull the door latch and then start going out w/o noticing that the door hasn't actually opened yet, just unlocks. They end up buldozing the door with their shoulder/arm. Happened twice already in the month i've owned the car.

Sometimes, it is the small things that makes the big difference.

Tried ordering to get the group buy price, but it wouldn't accept the coupon code. I'm guessing I'm too late? :-(

If so I'll have to pass on ordering this cool modification. The 15% deal is just to good a deal. Hopefully we can start another group order?

If so, put me down as first on the list!

Thanks,
Michael

Group buy limit has been reached.

I'm going to extending the offer for the next 5 people or until Monday. Those that have waited - get in quick.

Installed mine today. One of the retainer buttons was very stubborn and ultimately broke (all the others slid right out...not sure why that one was so stubborn), but other than that the install went off without a hitch. It works great and I love all the nice features included. Also really like the ability to reprogram everything with a netbook, quick and easy.

Awesome upgrade, great deal. thanks!!!!

The whole installation process is easy but I agree, there is one of the carpet clips that gave me such a hard time that I think took almost 20 minutes to remove. I had to use a string to wrap around it and pull it once and once I did that, it flew away and I lost it. That really was the hardest part of the process for me.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who had that trouble! I ordered a couple of replacement clips, $0.75 per at the dealer.

Thanks everyone - Group buy is now over and a big success.

Looking forward to hearing feedback once modules are installed.

Thanks Tom ! UPS delivered my module today (although I had to pay a hefty 71.73eur duty + brokerage). I'm still happy and eager to install the smart top as soon as possible. I checked for the latest firmware but the module had the latest firmware. Will have to wait a couple of days before installing since weather is really crappy here in Belgium at the moment ... today it even snowed a bit ! Spring and summer are closer though thanks again.

Thanks Tom, great service and I love the FREE extra (SUNSHINE) that comes with the module.

Fitted the SmartTop a week ago and now the Sun is shining. We don't see that very much in Basingstoke, so I've been making the most of it - thanks for the Free addition Tom

Have to say that I'm really pleased with the (pain free) purchase.

So what farkle do I need next?????/????????

installed mine today took me 45-60mins but I wasn't in a hurry since I did not wqant to break any clips or anything. A little screwdriver did the trick and lots of patience to avoid breaking the clips. The hardest part was figuring out how to fit the module and wires in the tiny space indicated in the instructions, so as to be able to close the lid and have everything in place.
The USB cable makes programming a piece of cake Very satisfied overall, clear instructions and great product. Thanks

Great thread, when I had my Z4 this was part of it. I don't know what make it was. All I can say it was a great feature to pop the roof up or down on a traffic light and then slowly drive off ... on many occasions I saw finger pointing

It sure was a wonderful option to have.
