255/35R19 vs 255/30R19

Hello,

I am thinking about replacing the stock 19" tires on my sdrive 35i with all-seasons non-runflats, a compressor and tire fit kit. I absolutely hate run flats (had them on my Audi TT before as well).

Now, would 255/35R19 work for rear tires on the car? The stock tires have a 30 aspect ratio. In total the side wall would be .5" higher. Any concerns about the tire not physically fitting in the wheel arches?

Any thoughts?

nope... no problems... plenty of space. I would suggest 265/30

These are Michelin Pilot Super Sport

Sidewall Style: Blackwall
Serv. Desc: (93Y) Load Index 93 = 1433lbs (650kg) per tire

Load Range: XLMax Load = 1,433 lbs
Max psi = 50 psi
UTQG: Treadwear: 300
Traction: AA
Temperature: A300 AA A Price: $358.00 (each)

These are Conti's Extreme Contact DW
Size: 265/30ZR19
Sidewall Style: Blackwall
Serv. Desc: 93Y Load Index 93 = 1433lbs (650kg) per tire
Speed Rating “Y” = 186mph (300kph)
Load Range: XLMax Load = 1,433 lbs
Max psi = 51 psi
UTQG: Treadwear: 340
Traction: AA

Since you said all-seasons I would suggest Conti Extreme Contact DWS. I'm running these in 275/30/19 and have no issues with clearance. This is on a 35i with sport package on standard M dynamic suspension. The only downside to this tire is it's scarce availability. There is a nice tire size calculator on this site http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

2009 BMW Z4  [8.00]
2004 BMW 525i  [0.00]
P Zero Corsa system

Just found a very nice system from Pirelli
Front 235-35/19 Directional
Rear 265-30/19 Asymmetric
The Directional tyre improves handling and precision when cornering. The Asymmetric tyre features longitudinal grooves that reduce the risk of aquaplaning, whilst the wide outer shoulder with its narrow grooves enhances roadholding when cornering.

Thanks for all the posts. I decided to go with Conti ExtremeContact DWS in 235/35R19 for the front and 265/30R19 for the rear.

I am running the same tires on my Audi A7 (to replace the horrible Yokohamas) and so far didn't have any complaints.

I ordered from tireteam.com for the first time - let's see how they are. So far the interaction has been very positive...

Conti DWS, too

I'm awaiting delivery (to Discount Tire) of new Conti Extreme Contact DWS, also, to replace the original Bridgestone run flats. They may arrive tomorrow
I'm getting the sizes that I believe to be most similar to the original size:
225/35ZR19 for the front
265/30ZR19 for the rear.

I may get the rear wheels' negative camber reduced, too. This will minimize the excessive inner tire tread-wear.

I think the 235/35ZR19 size is also a fine choice for the fronts.

Sounds good! I took the 235/35's as an expert in a German forum told me that this makes for better balance with the bigger rear ones. I am sure that the difference is only marginal though.

Btw, I ordered my tires from tireteam.com - phenomenal experience. DTD or TR didn't have the 235's in stock and the 265's were special orders. Paid $820 total all in.

Yes, the 235 fronts should reduce understeer some.

My tires did not come in today. Oh well.

My price all in will be $1056. This includes mounting, balancing, old-tire disposal fees, road hazard certificates, and local Dallas taxes. Tires alone are $782.
